Are you running a vapor separator? Or any kind of return line? If the return line orifice is too big it will have low pressure. Just went through this on mine. The Year One vapor separtor i bought had the return line orifice too big. Should be .060, mine was .100.

I'm just running a 6AN line from the tank to the pump. No returns or separator.

So you have a 6An line to the pump, what do you have coming off the pump and what does it go to? Do you have a FVS between the pumpo and the carb?

I have a 90 degree (3/8" to 6an) coming out of the pump. Then a straight 6an hose end with about 14" of 6 an braided line. The other end of the line is a 45 degree 6an hose end. That treads to an alum fuel filter. That filter then attaches to the dual feed set up for the carb. This system worked great last summer, but I've never been able to get it to run right this year.

I am not saying it is an absolute, but I would start by removing that filter to see if it fixes the problem. Likely it wont, but you have to start somewhere.

Have you tried removing the line from the filter to have free flow off the pump and then try turning it over to see what flow you are getting?

If not, simply run that line to a gas can to see what happens. I had the exact same issue with my 440, I determined that the larger fuel lines affect the psi, combined with the fact that I had a problem with the fuel vapor separator.

If you have free flow from the tank, to the lines to the pump, and free flow from the carb to the lines to that pressure gage to the filter, then the issue is at the filter.

It appears the issues was the fuel pump push rod causing the low pressure. But now I have the exact opposite problem. Im getting 12 to 15 psi out of a pump that only supposed to put out 6psi. Im using the Edelbrock 1723 mech pump. I swap pressure gauges and both read the same. Is the something else in the system that could be causing the pressure issue? I notice fuel spraying out of the carb vent tube. On the front vent only. I lowered the float all the way, and cleaned the needle and seat assem. Any ideas????
Thanks

on a mech pump the spring controls the psi and the cam lobe just recocks the arm. If a pump that is supposed to do 6 is putting out 12 lbs it very well well have the wrong spring in it. could send it back or if you're inclined take out the pivot shaft to remove the spring & check it for tension amt if you are able to do so or see what the pump mfr recommends EDIT I missed that you have an electric pump ahead of it. Yes you'll need to regulate the psi down for sure. thought that was very off that a 6lb pump is producing 12 psi

I was going to install a electric pump, if I still had not fuel pressure. Right now all I have is the mech pump.

well I'll be. I'm amazed that it's puttin out double. Sure cant have it flooding the carb & no way it wont with that much unregulated psi

So I called e-brock tech support. The guy was very helpful. He is going to call me back today, he is trying to get the pump replaced free of charge. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

I'd like to have heard what he said when you laid it on him that his 6lb eddy pump is putting out 12 (connfirmed with 2 diff gauges)

So here is the deal eddy offered me. I'm going to ship the pump back to them. They are going test it out. The tech guy said that their current test engine is a 440. If it puts out more then 7 psi, they will send me a new one.
