That really sounds great and looks great. You have an incredible knack for building vehicles.

Thanks, Rick and Blusmbl. To be honest, Rick, it wasn't that enjoyable of a ride, because this was the final exam for all of my ideas and hard work, and I was well aware that Murphy's Law could kick in at any moment and ruin my day. However, it was a relief that I passed the test. Future drives will be more enjoyable.
It was an absolutely beautiful day here in Tampa, but unfortunately I couldn't take the Jeep out, because I have to replace my pitman arm. The one that's in there now was banging against my tie rod, and I don't want to drive more and do more damage to the tie rod. The new pitman should be here in a day or two.
From the first ride alone, I can tell there are two things I want to do. First, change the mufflers to some quieter ones. This isn't a hot rod, and I want to enjoy my nice stereo system. Second, I want to install a front sway bar.

Awesome. The Jeeps looks great. I know the feeling of finally driving a project for the first time.

What brand GPS Speedo? I have Speedhut and it works great.

Autometer. When I start it up, it says that its "Acquiring Signal." My GPS antenna is buried under my dash, could that be the problem?

yes, the antenna needs line of sight to the satellites. Just like satellite radio. you need to mount it atop the dash by the windshield.

the wifes GPS antenna is buried under her dash and it has no problem getting a signal

To address the less than sports car-like handling, I purchased a Currie AntiRock sway bar kit.

To address the excessive exhaust decibels, I purchased a pair of Dynomax Super Turbo mufflers to replace my very nice, but loud, Hooker AeroChamber mufflers. I spent some coin on a stereo system, and I'd like to be able to hear it while I'm driving.

Meanwhile, back at the Bat Cave, I finished up the doors last night. Installed new interior and exterior door handles, and the original gray panels and grab handles were sprayed with SEM black. I looked all over the house, and couldn't find the door lock keys, so I took the lock cylinders to a locksmith, and got a new pair made.

I remade the brake lines going to the master cylinder. I didn't like the way I did the loops the first time around. After that, we re-bled the brakes. We took it out for a longer test drive around the neighborhood, and it stops better now.

Several days ago, I swapped out the Hooker AeroChamber mufflers with a pair of Dynomax Super Turbo mufflers. While it did quiet it down some, I discovered some major exhaust leaks where the primary header pipes slip into the collectors. This coming week, I'm going to seal up these leaks with Permatex 80335 Muffler & Tailpipe Sealer. Sealing up these leaks will help to further quiet down the exhaust system.

I took it out for another drive today. I recently had some coolant leak out of the radiator overflow nipple on several occasions. I tried a higher pressure radiator cap, and that seems to have solved the problem.

A couple short clips. The front end and steering feel a bit squirrelly and unpredictable, so I decided to hold off on really nailing the go pedal at this time.

Thanks! I'm hoping that an alignment will help.

The Currie AntiRock front sway bar kit arrived. I'll install it this weekend.

My postal Jeeps and CJ-7 all had wandery steering. It's a "feature". All were a handful at freeway speed. JK's seem better, but it all gets thrown out the window when they're lifted with large sidewall tires.

It really looks great in those videos.

A friend of mine built a nasty AMC 360 motor for a CJ5 he had. He said it was without a doubt the easiest vehicle to scare passengers with.

I checked my toe measurements by taking the tires off, and clamping these two pieces of 36" long 1" square extruded aluminum tubing to the rotors. Both tubes are dead level and centered to the hubs. I was surprised by how close I was, just by eye. I had 5/16" toe-in. I adjusted it to 1/8".

We drove the Jeep out to Wing House tonight. It was the first time I actually drove it to a destination. During the drive to and from, I noticed several electrical issues. First, my right turn signal indicator comes on, but doesn't blink. Second, my oil pressure gauge wasn't illuminated when I turned on the headlights. Lastly, on the ride home, at about the halfway point, my headlights completely went out. Fortunately, I was only about a mile and a half from home when it happened, and the streets were well lit.
