Oh! That is a De-Sta-Co clamp. I can't remember where I bought it, but many places sell them, and they are commonly used on custom built tire carriers in the Jeep/off-road world. The clamp I used is p/n 344 SS.

Still running wires.
The 6 ga. welding cable showed up at my house today. It will be run from the alternator output stud to the Mega Fuse.
I placed an order today for Cibie E-code headlight housings, and a pair of Philips X-treme Vision H4 55W bulbs. These parts, plus the fat 10 ga. power wires in the headlight harness should make for very powerful headlights!
The Candela Electric H4 headlight conversion wiring harness showed up today as well.

Progress report on the wiring work I did this weekend.

Headlights: The headlight wiring is done, except for screwing the ground wires to the frame. I cut off the plastic headlight plugs, and replaced them with ceramic plugs. This is necessary if I ever decide to put in higher wattage headlight bulbs.

I installed a 90º plug on the passenger side, due to the close proximity of the offset radiator.

Turn signals: I cut off the factory connectors and replaced them with Weatherpacks. Wiring is done, except for screwing the ground wires to the frame.

Courtesy lights: Installed a pair of them under the dash. You know, a Jeep without courtesy lights, is just plain uncivilized. So now, when either door is opened, the foot wells will be illuminated.

Distribution block: I made a mounting bracket for it.

The fuse panel wiring is slowly coming together.

Nice Dave

Thanks, Jimmy!

I made some more wiring progress. The wiring to the tail lights and reverse lights is now done. Only 2 more wiring sections to go! With a little luck, I just might be able to start this thing up by Thanksgiving weekend!

I needed a horn, so I bought a Hella SuperTone Dual Horn Kit. I also have a radiator overflow tank on the way.

I'm leary of using my Arizona salvage yard hydroboost unit as is. So, I sent it out to Vanco PBS for a complete rebuild. Vanco specializes in high performance braking systems for off-road vehicles, particularly hydroboost systems. They are also going to port it for increased fluid flow, which will allow me to add hydraulic ram assist to the steering.

Just a quick update on the wiring work I got done this weekend.

1. I wired up the wiper switch, which includes figuring out where the wires go from the new wiper motor (due to having to cut off the Deutsch connector and replace with a Weatherpack connector).

2. The heater system is completely wired up.

3. The windshield washer motor is wired up.

4. The ignition system is wired up.

Wiring work left to do:

- Fuel pump
- Horns
- All of the gauges
- Radiator cooling fan
- Trans cooling fan
- Stereo system
- CB radio

Over the next couple evenings, I'll knock out the horns, fuel pump, and trans cooling fan.

I got an email yesterday, informing me that Delta Current Control (DCC) shipped my fan controller. As soon as it arrives, I'll get to wiring up the cooling fan.

Wiring update. Over the past few days, the following items got wired up:

- 2 speed Ford T-Bird electric cooling fan (which includes the DCC SP2 Controller)
- in-tank fuel pump
- fuel level sender
- brake light switch
- hot and ground wires for the Pioneer head unit
- hot and ground wires for the Cobra CB

The list of items needing to get wired up is getting shorter:

- gauges
- trans cooler fan
- stereo system
- horns
- 12 volt auxiliary power source (for recharging cell phones, or whatever)

I will be installing 4 rocker switches to the right of the trans shifter on the center console panel. One of them will enable me to manually turn on the radiator cooling fan, and another to do the same for the trans cooler fan. The other two switches will be installed as place holders for any future additions (external lighting, rocket launcher, zombie death ray, what have you... )

Rick, I'm already considering full perimeter proximity sensors, to alert me if a soccer mom parks her minivan too close to me at the mall. It will do the same with shopping carts.

I planned on hanging my license plate in the center of the spare tire, so I had to eventually figure out some kind of a mounting bracket. Here is what I came up with, in aluminum. It mounts to three M6 tapped holes around the center of the wheel.

Hella Super Tone horns came in. I found a great spot to mount them, right under the grille shell. I don't have to make any brackets, and there are two holes there already, so installation will be quick and easy.

That isn't the Jeep's actual tag. I put the old tag on there just for the picture.

Placed an order today for a Firestik FS 4' long CB antenna, along with the cable and other pieces needed to complete the installation, including a quick release mechanism. I haven't decided on where I'm going to mount it, yet. From all that I have read, no convenient place on a Jeep is ideal. Most likely, it will be mounted on, or above the rear bumper.

Hella horns are mounted. View from above.

View from below.

Here's an up to the minute pic of the "controlled chaos", otherwise known as the wiring job!
