The stealth heads can flow as well as the Eddys. So if yours are pocket ported there probably close to 300 or so. Thats plenty good enough for what you want to do ,IMO. And Yes , your current combo works darn great. My Old 509 combo was at 10.78 comp too, and ran 10.47,s @ 3000# It would of been faster with a 5100 vert vs a 4100 vert. 10.30,s or so I bet.

I think that cam your looking at would be about perfect... yes it will have a little less duration at the tight lash but the wider LSA will help the top end and it wont be soft in the mid range...street driving the wider LSA is nice but it wont have much lope to it if you like that

thanks guys, now to save for all the little extras and check P toV clearance. as to idle lope not a worry if it makes plenty of power.the 509 idles around 800rpm in gear now

If he wants to gain 2 tenths that cam will be far from perfect IMO. In a similer test I lost a tenth from a such a change. But with the 110 LS it was much more street friendly. But similer doesnt mean exact.
It was a HD vs HD, but the approximate lifts and duration "differences" would of been about the same between the above mentioned 248* 509 HD and the 251* Lunati solid.
My two cams numbers were , 1st cam: 108 LS MP 484 .484 lift 241*@.050 Intake. .484 lift 241*@.050 Exhaust.
2nd cam: 110 LS Eddy 480 .480 lift 238*@.050 Intake. .495 lift 246*@.050 Exhaust
On the above test I was expecting A bit more ET and top end with the combo. A little more low end grunt with the shorter intake duration and a little more top end with the wider LS and more exhaust duration.
The results were about 1 to 1.5 tenths less with a more streetable driving combo. Both cams were installed 4* advanced.
The conclusion I gained from this was, between all the differences between the two cams at LS,intake Lift/exhaust Lift.
At this level of duration, Duration @ .050 played the biggest part in performance.
Not lobe sep., or higher exhaust lift.

This is a solid(not a hyd)... it will pull more RPM than the hyd... thats why I asked the head flow which you believe can do it

Mr P,Sport440 i ran a couple of cams through Cam Quest to get some ideas. guesstimates using my inputs the Comp 509 nostalgia : 556hp/531flb Comp XS290S(similar to Lunati)252/260@050 : 588hp/552flb Comp 306S, 260/260@050: 588hp/532flb Comp XTQ286S, 256/266@050 : 588hp/547flb these peak hp numbers look about 25hp up but like a dyno just gives comparisons All show near identical HP and similar tq.I am giving up around 30HP and some tq Peak power is estimated at 6500,tq at either 4500 or 5000.keeps it all around my self imposed max rpm.but may push into the 10's,i guess short shifting will help there if necassarry i guess its pluck a number from the hat thanks again, Tex

A basic 440 package responds to more cam duration and likes 108 or less lsa. these are torque motors, narrow lsa cams are torque cams. Put a cam in it with some serious duration and you will be rewarded with a serious hp improvement. Put a similar cam in it or something with a little more duration, and you MAY get a little more hp. You have the stall to run the 590. Put it in at 102, check V p, and fix. Then go run the number you want. Simple. And you can shift at 6200. Basically you need head flow equivalent to Eddys, or well ported Iron heads. An 850 cfm carb, single plane manifold and 2 inch headers with long collectors. I know of two guys both running this combo, one at 3700 lbs, one at 3800 lbs. Both have run tens.

You have just described my package Greg, mine has 4800 stall, 4.56 gear, 12.5.1 comp, 950 holley, 2" TTI's with collector extensions at 3200# and i think there's a 10.1 in my car with more tuning, shift at 6200 goes through the line at 6500. I cant believe how good this cam is. Mick

The Lunati cams are Great! 451 Jim uses this 30307 cam on his 3800# street car and it runs 11.70 or better something, If I remember correctly.
But with the 5100, Vert in the OP,s combo. Its to short on duration, to walk the dog on the old MP 509.
Tex, needs more then just a "Similer" Cam Tweak to gain .2 tenths in the 1/4 with his 3700# ride

thanks again for all the input. the 590 looks unobtainium at the moment,no biggy as i'm not ready yet. Deaks,i know you have more comp but how does your motor/590 cam idle - way high?rough like a 509? am i correct in thinking that i will need 6 - 8 degrees more duration on a solid to be somewhat equivilent to a hydro cam.hence from what some are saying i may really need closer to 260 or 265 to see a real gain, plus raise my peak power to around 6300 from 5800 now.is this what you are pointing out Greg ? by the way i have 1 7/8 hooker comps into a 3"system to the diff with aero chambers.825 mighty demon on a M1 single plane. Engle Cams has a similar cam to the MP .590.
Part # 2387 .600" lift 274* duration @ .050 106lca
Install it at 102 and it should get you in the 10's easy.
