We already did the fast 440's lets hear some small blocks builds using factory blocks. Lets not fight about big block vs. small block, they're all good in my book.

Well mine ain't stupid fast but it is a stock block. Haven't had it to the track yet as I'm still waiting on the proper pushrods and thanks to Todd at Competion Wedge I'll be able to fix that soon enough. I expect mid 9's in the crappiest air out of this combo and I don't see a reason why it shouldn't do it.

Stock 360 block, tall filled with a Hughes girdle, torque plate honed and a 1/16 ring pack. W5 small chamber hand ported heads, 2.08/1.60 intake flows over 320 @ .700. 4" crank from BPE, Eagle H beams and Wiseco pistons with a 20cc dish including the valve reliefs. .006 out of the hole with .039 gasket. Crane SS solid roller with 1.6 rockers nets out to .698/.714 lift with the lash, 276/284 duration @.050.

I've done oiling mods that include drilling all the passages to .500 minimum and radiusing all the corners I could get to and blocking the oil to the lifters. A Melling HV pump with a Canton rear sump pan filled with 05W20 synthetic and a .625 ID pickup tube.It has an M1 W5 tunnel ram with 2 750 Demon TR carbs. Currently has Crane Gold rockers on it but thanks to Todd @ Competion Wedge it will soon have Harland Sharps on it. 2" primary header and a 4" collector with turn downs. 4200 TA converter and a low gear 904 with a 4.86 geared 8.75 rear at 2600 pounds with me in it. The combo in my sig is basically the same but with a .672 lift flat tappet with the same duration @ .050 as the roller but with 2.02 valves in the head and a basically stock short block with hyper pistons. Plus it's about 15 years old without a freshening so I don't think the new combo will have any problems getting well into the 9's. Results will be posted.

Well the OP said factory block. I suppose the R3 is a factory block, but considering there isn't much of anything else out there you could construe that to mean stock block.

My definition of a factory block is one that was factory issue in a production vehicle....

My Indy headed 408 (factory '75 360 block) has been 10.11 @ 131mph. Regularly runs 10.20 to 10.30 in my 3000lb valiant. Oh yeah, it's only 10.3:1 compression also. By no means a stupid fast smallblock though... I'm making a few changes right now to hopefully squeeze a 9.9x pass out of it this fall.

W5Dart66 (Brett Miller) built a 397" Indy headed motor for Engine Masters a few years ago that made 660hp and went 9.70's @ 138 in a 72 Dart. Also, a pump (93 octane) gas motor.

Sorry, I thought he ment any Mopar block. I went 9.502 @ 138 mph with a stock 1970 block out of my 340 swinger I used to own with w-5 heads and @ 3100 lbs. 372 inches and no power adders. It eventually slpit in half so i went with a R-3 race block. Is that stupid fast???

Mine isnt stupid fast. But my 74 360 block W-5 headed 408 has been 5.93 @ 114.No Nitrous. My opinion of stupid fast w/ a SB would be close to the 8 sec 1/4s or 5.50s 1/8 stock or Mopar race block.

I think 5's in the 1/8th with no power adders is pretty stupid fast for a stock block. I hope mine holds up until I can get another R3. I had 2 and sold them, but I don't plan on leaning on this one real hard. Shouldn't have to to get what I want anyway.

That would not have happened to be at Rockingham in that mineshaft air last year? Would it?

Stupid fast for a stock block is a relative statement. The weight of the car has to be considered.

It would have been nice to have had more time down there to see how fast we both could have gone, thats the only bad thing about index racing, we spent all of our time trying to dial our cars in
