Hey thats great to see it run so good after all the hard work I know you put into it. It sounds like she is really clicking good as you beat what you were shooting for (11.60) by alot. Now you need to get out and enjoy it alot. I am curious as to why the metnenal injection ? I only ask because I have not seen many use it and I really dont know how much it helps performance wise ? Not trying to be smart but I just dont know much about it and how much faster it can make a car. Also how large of a tank do you need for it and where do you mount it ? Again congrats on having her running so good. Ron

Not to knock a great run but, I would think you should get more out of that setup? My car has gone 11.48@119... 70 Challenger 4-speed 4.10 dana, no cage weighting 3700lb with me... 440 30 over, stock crank, 10.1, Hughes solid flat .597 .613 .247 dur 906 stage 1 port job by Hughes, Performer RPM intake with 950 Holley.... and that is leaving very light...blew up to many 8-3/4's 2500rpm

Hello 383man,
That water/meth system is to help cool the combustion off some. You can run some more timing and still keep out of detonation.
Damon
Thanks. I know about water inj but I was curious about the methenal as I have not heard much of anyone using the methenal inj. Again not knocking it just curious to know more about it. Ron

Fighter planes used it in WWII (water/meth) to allow them to increase boost briefly during a dogfight situation. use of it was commonly referred to as "war reserve" because it was generally only used during combat. Basically it reduced the temp of the intake charge to let them get away with more boost without detonation. Jeff's running 11:1 or so compression so he's using it as insurance against detonation and so he doesn't have to back off the timing.
Actually I know about the WWII fighter planes using water inj as I am a bit of a WWII buff but I had never heard of the methenal inj with them just the water. Guess thats why I was curios as I just never see anyone using the methenal inj and did not know how well it works. Thanks , Ron

and that is leaving very light...blew up to many 8-3/4's 2500rpm
U-Code, your car is lighter, has more cam, more gear and the 6-pack is not best for a race applications. The RPM is a much better intake and I have you beat by a tenth now. The car has more in it. I'm good.
Ron I git the meth set-up so I can run full advance and 93. It makes 93 act like 114. SO you can run pump gas and not worry. One 427 3x2 vette picked up 52hp using meth/water injection.

Im wondering why you would need meth injection with alum heads, the cam you are using and only 11 to 1 comp with 93??? How much total are you running?
Do you feel that the meth injection by itself is making your car quicker?
72 RR, Pump gas 440, 452s, 3800 lbs, Corked, ET Radials,. 11.33@117.72.
Same car, bone stock 346s, 9.5 comp, baby solid. 12.24@110.

it's a little over 11:1 I run 38* total at 2400. Ii does help. I can feel the difference when it's on. I does more than just control knock. It cools your intake charge.

Very nice numbers. The car looks real nice too.
Time for a roll bar, 5 point harness etc?

Thanks..., I'll just slow it down for eliminations. Nobody said anything at this track but the other 3 around will give you one "freebie" then you're gone. I guess I'd think about a cage if one could be installed so the kids could still ride in the back seat. I was thinking about going to 2" headers and port mathcing the intake for a few more HP but I might just keep the 1 3/4" and not touch a thing. I am installing the new DiffDr axles and looking into cal-tracs or old fashion slapper bars.

I agree. I am surprised you can get 64 hp out of that system. Personally, I would want to see what it would run on race gas.

race gas is $7.14/gal here. The Meth/water system was only $250. won't take long to pay for itself
