Here is the flow numbers from my SR's. These numbers are from fast68 when he repaired them last year.
lift--------in/ex .100--70.0/61.8 .200-144.6/107.7 .300-209.7/160.9 .400-254.7/196.4 .500-291.9/229.1 .550-309.9/240.4 .600-324.2/248.3 .650-326.0/254.7 .700-322.4/256.3
The heads have the STD 2.19 valves. I had Dwayne install Ferrea valves last time. The heads have just been opened up to maxWedge port size, and INDY's crappy bowl blend work. Nothing radical at all. With one of Scott Brown's solid lifter cams (.630I/.610E, 112LSA) my 499 made 732hp/635trq.

Jeff, I have a few things figured out.. I want this to remain a street car so I want lots of power down low and maybe a hp peak about 6500-6700 with a max of 7000 in the traps.
With my tires, gears and a converter at about 6% slippage, 7000 rpm's is 134 mph. For a 3625 lb car to go 134 mph I need 745 hp. With 11:1 I wont see that kind of number. A more realistic goal on pump gas would be about 675 hp which would be good for 130 mph on paper but then to hit it with 150-200 hp would be interesting.
Lots of thinking, lots of planning at this point.

Gary, send me a PM with your address, and I'll mail off a copy of my dyno sheet. My 499 made a very flat torque curve, and made peak hp around 6500. I think with a roller cam, and fully ported SR's it will make the same HP on pump gas.

Put the piston down 0.002" and run the CR. It will work with pump gas and the added CR will help everywhere in the power range. The worst case senario is that you have to tailor the ignition advance to come in around 3000-3500 instead of the typically desired 2000-2500.

Gary, I personally wouldn't be affraid to run about 12:1 atleast in this engine with the right camshaft, but if you want to be conservative, keeping it at around 11.5-12:1 should be a happy medium. I have seen flat tappet engines with close to 13:1 run quite well on pump gas without reducing the ignition timing by a dramatic amount. Another tip would be to have your ignition curve done by someone knowledgable with what you are trying to acheive. AL...

Joe, the SR's chambers come out to 84cc AFTER the CNC work. 75 as delivered.
Those Pump Gas drags are still darned impressive considering the cars have to drive 30 miles one way, race and return 30 miles on the supplied gas.
You had to drive 34 miles to the track, that was it.
They said there were about 4 red lights. It was more like 25 at least.
There may be a similar head change for my motor this winter. We talked about it on the way back from Memphis.
Anyone wanna trade a stratus for a set of heads???? LOL!

Un, a move right to 440-1s will get you these flow numbers or better if you get the SR without the dogleg, or the 440-1s,either with a 2.25 intake. I have heard that the SRs may have a little more short side to work with, so they might even outdo the 440-1s if ordered without the pushrod problem.
My 440-1s;
int .100 74 - 76 ex 50 - 58
int .200 149 - 154 ex 104 - 117
int .300 210 - 223 ex 145 - 170
int .400 263 - 278 ex 180 - 209
int .500 301 - 328 ex 210 - 245
int .600 311 - 363 ex 237 - 270
int .700 313 - 368 ex 250 - 287
int .800 306 - 378 ex 257 - 301
First set of numbers is before with 2.19 intake, second after porting ,2.25 intake.
The biggest shortblock you can build is the way to go, and in my estimation that is a set of wiseco 4.375 pistons with 1.300 compression hieght, with a 4.25 crank from ohio or eagle. 6.635 rods, all in a 400 block, and don't forget to figure in the 9cc for valve reliefs (yep, 9cc) for a big roller of up to 284@ .050 if you ever choose to go that big.
This motor should be capable of running 10.00 to high 9s if you build it with a roller, even staying under 7000 rpm and having a somewhat streetable converter in it. The power i estimate is about 725 hp, probably at about 6600 to 6800 rpm.

One other thing to consider is an oil pan improvement to handle the stroker. A lot of us running strokers have had oil issues with the rear main seal etc. and blowby, and i can't help but think it is related to severe windage problems in the block on long stroke motors. I have just ordered a 7 inch deep full to the pan rail sidebucket oil pan from RBRE, and am going to run a scraper as well to keep the oil in the pan. If what i suspect is right, my problems with too much oil in the blowby coming out of the vacuum pump will deminish, and my ET should show a very nice improvement. I will post results in about two to three weeks when all the parts are in place and i get a chance to test!!

Thanks for all the info. guys!! Wes, thanks for the encouraging words and yes, when its time for picking out the spray, I'll talk with you all about it. Very limited experience dabbling in the spray, but I'm looking forward to learning all about it. I want to do it right.. Timing retard, remote bottle activator, and dedicated fuel system. DusterDave, OFCOURSE its gonna have a Scotty Brown roller cam in it. As far as big compression goes, I just cant do it. If you guys knew how often I drive my car and the distances I go sometimes, its really out of the question. A good night out in my car is $25.. At $50 for the good stuff it would have me driving the car shorter distances or even less and I'm not willing to do that.

i think Jeff D's dyno numbers and track performance prove that you dont need killer airflow numbers from the SR's on a 500" combo to make good power and run quick.
