does anyone know a good (cheap) source to buy a gm 1 wire mini alternator? Or something comparable? I have a toyota 93-94 4 runner alt but its no good. my cuda has a RB and a motor plate so i need the mini so it will fit...
any good setups? i would like something internally regulated, and has a easy hookup. I thought the toyoyta ones would help with the lights at idle.
unfortunately i got it used and it was no good. so i am thinking gm 1 wire. any thoughts, experiences, etc???
I don't have any crazy demands on it, electric fan, fuel pump, lights, radio (maybe), the basic stuff, i figure a 60 amp would be plenty.

also i see some true 1 wire alternators, they claim to run a constant 14 volts, this would not work for street use right? don't i need a 1 wire that actually has a power and sense wire?

I have an alternator off a 86 Park Avenue in my 64. It was checked by shop and puts out 86 amps..I also have motor plate and use a DMI alternator bracket. Works like a charm!

If you already had the Denso hooked up, why not get
a good one to replace it... I prefer the external
reg... I believe they kick in at a lower RPM

I get my alt and mini starter both from DB Electrical of of Ebag. They are cheaper than our local parts houses, and work well. In fact I'm getting ready to buy both again for new Dakota race truck build. Here is a link (if it works) to alt;

i looked at those on good ol bag, but was unsure about DB, i am into jetskis as well and they sell the cheapest starters, but i read more often than not they do not work. and dealing with them is a headache. I do NOT know from first hand experience, just what i have read.
thanks. I think ill try to go with the 90 ish toyota 60 amp again, something about being able to just go to the parts store to replace it makes sense, and they have great warranties here!
