I see your in Tennessee and run at I-40 drag way over in Crossville. Here in East TN all we can get is E70. I checked with the local stations around here and none of them have E-85. They tell me E-70 is all the supplier offers. Something you may want to consider. I am running a blend of meth and E-70 in my car.
I have not checked and see if i can get E-85 or not but Alc i love running it and Rupert that makes the carbs he is about 35 miles from me and that makes it easy to get parts and he helps me out and i got to go and pick up my new 1050 up THURSDAY . Hey do you race at knoxville track or 411 any.

Hey 440 JIM and MR P BODY i see you all run E-85 i have not run it but i run Alcohol
I was running race gas (110) before. I tested E85 in a carb and went with that for 1 year. Then I got the used Flying Toilet injection and started the tune with alky (methanol) for a few months. When I was happy, they helped me tune the system for E85 and have been running it ever since.
IMO, the differences: 1) E85 runs cooler than gas, but not as cool as methanol 2) E85 runs quicker than gas, but not as quick as methanol. Same in cool weather, bigger difference in hot weather. 3) E85 is not as corrosive/troublesome as methanol, but I had no problems with methanol. 4) E85 was the cheapest fuel of the three, considering fuel consumption and cost per gallon.
The only bad part of E85 is the few number of stations that carry it.

racegas is somewhere around $21.50/gallon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
But you have Swedish blondes walking around everywhere.

Hey JIM thanks this is what i needed to know about E-85. I just got a barrel of Methanol and it was $153.85 and i put 1 bottle of top lube and two bottles of sent and was $12.99 a bottle and all of it was $192.82 and with my 950 carb i used about a gallon a pass but with my new 1050 ? I have had NO problems with Methanol on my DUSTER but i had some on my bird little ones. Before with my bird i had a 1050 on it i used 1 1/2 gallons a pass. THANKS 440 JIM & MR P BODY

I live eight miles from English Mountain so I mostly run there. I have run at 411, Knoxville, Rogersville, and Bristol. I ran once at I -40 a couple years ago. I’m planning a trip over to I-40 later this year to meet a buddy from the Springhill area. If you decide to come over to 411 let me know and I’ll come over. 411 is only about 30 miles from me.

First, welcome back Bumps! I know SteelDust was talking pure alcohol but, I wonder if a 'top-end' lube is a good idea when running E-85?

Our fuel in Minnesota is E-70 a good portion of the year. Thankfuly it's usualy the race off season. It's to keep the pump gas guys starting in the really cold weather. The fuel is blended back to E-85 for the summer months. Unless you know what you have you should have a test kit. Most of us can find a little E-98 to blend in if we need to. I'm told there is little or no diference down to E-80 but have not dyno or track tested it to E-85 side by side.
I buy all my E-85 at the pump but I buy it in the summer time and fill my barrels... I test a sample first and its always been between 85-86... yes it does drop to E-70 in the fall to the spring but I dont buy it then

Sean, it shouldnt need a lube... it has 15% gas in it for lube

Same here. I test every batch I buy (fill a 55 gal drum) and it has always checked out 84-86%. Then fill a drum before winter for early spring use. The station in Maryland I use seems to have 85% by the first week in May.

I mention it because the engines we run thru dyno get torn-up pretty good on the seats. This is just changing to E-85. What say you 440Jim...how do your valvejobs hold-up? Or are you top-end lubing?

The last time I had the heads off my W-9(which has been run on E-85 for about 4 years now)looked great BUT they have the beryllium seats
