Has anybody here built an engine with the Mopar Performance P5007494 Max Wedge heads?

I am interested in using these heads to build an engine for my truck to use in some local sled pulls. The rules state: "Engine size is 480 cubic inches with +/- 2% for pump accuracy. Engine block and heads must be cast iron. Must have OEM casting numbers." To meet this, I am considering building a 470 stroker using my truck's 400 block and using these max wedge heads and an Indy 400-2 4150 single plane intake manifold, which, to me, meets the rules.

This being said, I have not found much information on building these heads, or who can best set these up. I am looking for tips and advice on using these heads, and what work they need to set them up, as they come bare. I'm not wanting to spend a fortune, but want a solid foundation to work with.

Dwayne Porter can set the heads up for you. Intake choices are going to stink. The Indy will fit but then the valley will be a mess to seal up.

yeah, I read up on intake choices in one of your articles I believe. One option, I can fab up something that will work, or use my 440 core for building up.

I'll contact Dwayne Porter to see what he recommends.

If you have a 440 block to use then you get a lot more intake choices. The cleanest setup with an RB block is to use the Mopar 337 intake. The 337 intake seals up the valley for a nice simple assembly. It is a low rise design but it makes plenty of power.

Good to know for the intake. Thanks for the tip. I'll look into that.
