Mainly posting this for a reference to others. Quality control is lacking a bit here, or maybe these carbs were made on a Friday or Monday. Just wanted to post a heads up to anyone installing a new six pack setup. Check those carb idle adjustment screws, front and back. I have been dealing with stalling issues on my 6-pack Road Runner for a few months and it was driving me crazy. I set timing, messed with the center carb idle screws, used a vacuum gauge, etc. I just couldn't get this stupid thing to idle at all and it would always want to die when I came to a stop. Floats are fine, ran great at speed or my foot in it. Just idle. I kept jacking the curb idle screw up to get it to idle, but that's like putting duct tape on the Titanic. Anyrate, I started doing some research before I started down the whole changing power valves, jets, etc, thing. I read about the idle circuit screws on the outer carbs being plugged with lead after initial setting by the factory. Well, I removed the plugs and that was the issue. The front carb was just too rich (maybe 2.5 turns out) and the rear was shut. On the stops. Now it idles perfectly. I followed a link I found here on adjustment/setup and now I think I have it dialed in nicely. Anyrate, just a note for the guys that think you can bolt on and go out of the box. Sometimes, stuff gets by the workers on the line. I've had it happen on another Holley as well, and floats not set correctly on an Eddy. Just because it's new doesn't mean it's set up right. I like 6-packs again!

Cheers

youd be surprised how many people actually think they are supposed to run like crap and pop and smoke...ive seen alot of guys with multicarb engines swaering its running great, but wont start hot, dumping raw fuel out the pipes, farting and popping...most people now a days have no clue about carburetors

Me too. I have a set I've been running on my various Mopars for, oh,, 20 years now and have never popped the lead plugs out from the end carbs.

Glad you got it all sorted out Dave..
