Can I safely hoist an assembled 440 block by attaching my lift chains to the most forward and rear (4) manifold bolt holes in a set of 440 EZ heads?

The manifold is an aluminum 6-pack, so I hesitate to use any type of lifting plate across the manifold. Looks like my 4 chain leveler that attaches to my engine hoist will line up nicely with those manifold bolt holes, but I wand to make sure that the aluminum head threads can take the strain of the engine weight.

I've done it with a set of edelbrock heads - no problem

Thanx!

I was just imagining threads giving, blocks falling, concrete breaking, car crunching, etc. This car has taken too long to pull together to have it end so tragically because I tried to lift the engine from the wrong area.

Now, if only I could get an answer on the PS gearbox & torque converter bolt question.

I make a tool for that application. Part number is AR252 and you can buy it from Mancini Racing. The kit has a pair of brackets in it that bolts to the exhaust side of the cylinder head.
