I have a tube chassis dart withe the master cylinder under the floor been having trouble getting the brakes to feel right , 1st push of the pedal goes to the floor , next one pedal is hard , got to checking things out and there is no residual valves in the lines , could this cause the problem? or isit something else? It has 4 wheel disc brakes. Thanks for the help

Yes... when the master is lower than the calipers
or wheel cylinders the fluid backs up more into the
master and the master doesnt have enough volume in
the bore to get the needed volume in 1 stroke of the
pedal... with the residual valves it holds a small
amount of pressure on the fluid so it cant back up

if ur master cylinder is down on the floor low like the brakes are yes u need the prop valve were talkin about,,,if ur brakes go to the floor and then get better...BLEED BLEED AND BLEED EM AGAIN..the air makes the fluid look bubbly white like phlem

Yes that's it! Bled them a BUNCH of times now and doesn't seem to get better! MC is on firewall in stock location also... No prop valve or anything ! Straight hardlined

Here is a trick I learned on bleeding the brakes a few weeks ago. Take your bleeder valves out(the fitting as well as the little bleeder valve)pour brake fluid( I used a antifreeze checker) into the openings and tape the calipers with a rubber mallet. Only a small amount will go in at a time, but let set a hour or two and top off again.Do this several times during the day. When you get to the point you are no longer having to put even a drop in them, let set over night and if all the bleeders are still full bleed your brakes. If not you have to keep putting a drop or two of fluid in till it stays full.
This sounds like a lot of trouble, but it was the only way to get the brakes bleed right.

Since your master is in the stock location and you
have tried to bleed them multiple times get a mitivac
and put that on a catch bottle(line from the mitivac
to the bottle then a line out of the bottle to the
bleeder)open 1 bleeder at a time using this at each
point... press the pedal a short distance and block
the pedal... apply a vac to each bleeder...when you
get straight fluid close that bleeder and move to
the next... make sure you keep the master full...
start at the farthest point from the master... once
you do all 4 then do a normal bleed procedure to
make sure you have all the air out and the pedal
is firm.... you can use silicone to seal the tubes
to the lid of the catch bottle to make it vac tight
