What are you guys using to protect the bars from scuffs/scratches at the points where you get in/out?

I have seen some "carbon fiber" covers. Any brand you suggest?

Seems to me the 3M "clear bra", aka "helicopter tape", would work well for that.

I use the carbon covers from RJ racecars. You can get them from all the major chassis shops as well.

Ditto. They are just thin carbon tubes that have been split in half. You can probable buy the tube and split it yourself cheaper. They fit good though.

Must be a street car, race cars must have that area padded.

it's ok to butt heads, just don't do it with a butthead

wrong on both counts
the only area that has to be padded in a cage is the area around you head per NHRA rules
my chasis is certified to 8.50

I always thought it said padding was required anywhere your body could hit which included that area. If that is true I could have saved a couple of bucks on padding.

Steve
no reason not to have padding where ever you want but next time you are watching racing on the tv look at pro stock, funny car, top fuel are any class you see all kinds of padding in the helmet area but no where else

Thanks for the ideas guys! And he is correct, only padding by head area is required.
