Hi
I wanna put an electric fan on the car.I need it to run backwards to make it a pusher fan in front of the radiator, but when I wire it to run in reverse the wires get hot in a matter of seconds.s this possible in some way to do, or do I need a voltage limiter,I wouldnt think so 12 volts are 12 volts, but I've been wrong once or twice before.the negative wire was just touching and not bolted down tight,It worked alright when powering it with a battery charger....hummm

If that motor and fan blade combo was not designed to be a pusher, it will never do what it was designed to do and make very small difference if any

An engine cooling fan in reverse is an engine heater?

I had one that you had to turn the fan blades around or it wouldn't blow much air. on a 12v motor all you have to do is switch the wires to reverse.

I had fans that suggested turning the blade around backwards too. Not putting much thought into it, I tried it.
DUH! That's just plain stupid and will not work. I have no idea how they got away with putting that in print.

Think about it. The motor turns the same way. The blades are angled. Now, what happens when you flip / 180 degrees on a vertical axis? It look an awful lot like /.
To get \ out of / would require removing the blades from the hub and sticking them on the opposite side of the hub. I don't think super glue is going to do the trick here.
