I broke the dipstick tube in a 340 motor. The bottom half inch remains in the block. I removed the fuel pump so I can get at it. I've slid a hooked rod down and trying pulling and prying but to no avail. Anyone have a surefire solution? Thanks in advance
thread a bolt into it and then you should be able to yank it out. some times just using a tap will loosen it up and it will come out easy.

Thanks for all the answers except yours Jim ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif) I'll try the easy out or even threading a bolt. If all else fails I will drop the pan and tap it back. Engine is in the car so that's not a plus.

Just go over to Home Depot or Lowes and buy yourself a Lag Screw. Thread it into the busted off tube, put a vise grip under the head of the screw, get a hammer, and hammer up under the vise grip. Busted tube removed, easy as that.
