On a thermoquad carb for a 72 does the dist. vacumn advance go on the front or rear of the carb?There is a vacumn port on both front and back.

Use the driver side front port; it is the only 'timed' port, David.

Yup, front drivers side . . . on my 74 Duster360, there is port on pass. side, but think it is for the emissions control canister. . . . the rear port has vacuum on it all the time - used for the heated door on the snorkel of the air cleaner . . .

My TQ has same driver side port in passenger side AND the canister port, side by side, plus of course PCV port

I don't think its not ported

Easy way to tell ported v manifold is to
1. start the car
2. and unplug the port
3. put your finger over the port

If it has vacuum at idle its manifold
If it has NO vacuum at idle its ported.
