is the rear of a lil red express 8.75, and what would i have to do to fit it into a 71 A-body? my brother the used car dealer gave me one, Surprise! thanks in advance

They are 9 1/4", usually 355 open gear. Not sure about width.

They are 9 1/4. You'll have to flop the spring perches and get custom wheels.

74 is last yr for 8 3/4.

truck axle will bolt in on the 43" spring perch centers under the springs but way to wide for an A-body.

you will need to put the perches on the bottom of axle tube and use car shock plates/u-bolts.

i used an A-body 8 3/4 in my truck to tuck 12" rims with 29x15x15 M/Ts in the fenders,bolt right in on top of springs and a shackle flip so its not slammed to the ground.

early B-body 8 3/4 is the close one for an A-body,just need right offset on the rims.

or have the 8 3/4 houseing narrowed and use A-body axles,I used moser axles with large brakes and 5 on 4.5 wbp
