W7 is ok, but no longer gets security updates. W10 is great, just keep it updated.

Stand alone means no connection to the internet at all. If you are connected via a cable to the internet, it’s not really stand alone. If you have nothing of value on the computer, I guess it’s ok, but I wouldn’t do it.
