The factory cut the balancer so the magnetic pickup could read it.

Wasn't just motor home engines. IIRC, most all manufacturers had them at one time. I do remember after I became a dealer tech that the porters were cleaning the shop one weekend and pressure-washed the old Sun machine while they were at it. Needless to say, it never worked right again.
