LOL - back in the day when a car changed ownership you had to install a NOX kit to register your car. It's just a vacuum advance retarder. Cars with multiple carbs or cold air induction were exempt.

Today the NOX upgrade isn't needed because the cars older than 1975 are smog check exempt.
