In all honesty, I would get another car. My F150 posted better mixed numbers than these things put out. Don't get me wrong, I love mine, but they're just not mileage makers.

If your going to buy me another car that's better on gas and won't crumpled like a pop can in a collision Id like a Magnum wagon or a New Durango.
18-24mpg is perfectly fine with me. My 84 Toyota pickup with a 22r and 5spd gets around 20mpg. I got the car cause Im not putting a baby in the Toyota. 5th aves and dippys do Extremely well in demos.

Don't compare demo derby durability with real-life car accidents, the dynamics of both the crash and the cars is drastically altered. If your babyseat is in teh center of the backseat almost any car above compact-size should be OK. The momentum of the vehicle hitting you is the biggest consideration, and a newer car will crush more at the edges and absorb that energy better than an older car. **My point - a 300M or mid-90s Buick Century/Regal, etc will give much better MPG and probably be safer.
