You want to make sure it is tighten all the way you can get it, I use a crescent wrench on one of the straight pieces to tighten them, that or a pipe wrench Once you have it tight, install the oil pan and pull the drain plug so you can check the hieght of the pickup off of the bottom of the oil pan with a flashlight or a piece of 1/8 inch welding rod or a straighten out coat hangar, the Mopar factory services manuals call for the stock pick up to touch the bottom of the oil pan
