Does anybody make a stroker kit with a smaller journal?
I know Hughes has a 4.18 kit with smaller journals, but I’m not sure I want more than a 4” stroke. I’d like to run a smaller journal slightly longer rod.
My build will be a w2 pump gas street/strip for a mostly street 4 speed cuda.
Thanks

Molnar only lists standard journal for a 360. And I can’t find any info online about bloomer performance.

Read this article in "Best of Moparts".

430 Small Block Build

That's what convinced me to build my 428 using the Bloomer Performance Engineering kit with a 6.200 rod and 2.00 journal. Drops right in, all quality components, and the pistons are ordered to exactly what you need.
Ring pack, bore, compression.

Mine came out great, 5 years now, so much fun on the street.

What are the pros or cons of a smaller journal longer rod engine?

I did a 427 a few years back with a K1 crank and rods. That was a beast of an engine. Pushed a '68 Valiant to 160 mph on the road race course.

My 434 is running a Bloomer 4.125" crank with 2.00" rod journals and a 6.200 rod also. Nice stuff IMO. My pistons are custom Diamond.

Justinp61 thank you that’s a great article.
mopardude318, better clearance, better oiling, less rotating weight, less rod angle, lighter piston. Do I think any of that is critical in a street/strip deal? No, but if I can do it I might as well. There’s a reason people are choosing the 2.2 journal in big blocks over the old 2.375 I. Big blocks as well.
