There was a post a few weeks ago on shocks. Didn't see an answer for a lower HP. My latest build is an A body with about 390 HP. For simplicity, I'm using SS springs. 30 years ago, you just looked for the longest rear shock and that was it. Not a lot of selection now and most shocks, that are available, are only online and there are no length specs. So looking for a shock recommendation using a DOT drag radial, street/strip car. I thought of the Rancho adjustable but couldn't find shock length. Is longest shock length not a good solution for SS springs?

Calvert Racing (the Cal-Trac guys) have a good 90/10 for the front and adjustable rears that are cost effective and work You might give them a call and they can set you up

I went 9’s( and the car was remarkably consistent) in a 3350 pound Duster on 002/003 leafs and CE 3 way shocks at all 4 corners.
Fronts set at 90/10, rears i had staggered settings, buts its been awhile now and i forget just how i had them, know left rear was looser, and right rear tighter.
Had the car forever and never had the need to change shocks because of any hooking issues.
Car went 1.34/1.37 60 foot depending on weather. Only issue was with wheelstands, which could be dealth with using limiters, hanging weight, or rear air pressure.

Calvert has several different lengths of shocks. They don't list them all on the website since it tends to confuse the customers so just call them and tell them what you need. SS springs tend to require a really long shock.....

Well I am still old school and cheap since I live on disability. I just run SS springs and the longer MP shocks. Not the greatest 60 but for a street car raced on pump through the full exh and just SS springs I guess its not to bad. Running 10.70's my best 60 is a 1.50. Course that's on my 63 B-body. Ron

When I bought my Rancho shocks I found them on the Summit website. There were several pages with shock lengths.

The trick was to get SW rear shocks. They were about 2-3" longer.

What about shock extensions.. the height of the
springs is your issue

My buddy used a set of Monroe coil over 58496 on his Demon, but he has stock springs.

We used a Monroe coil over 58577. I did have to remove the sleeve at the top to fit the upper shock bolt through. Two washers on either side compress the rubber washer inside.

With that being said, the stock upper shock mounting bolt was gone and it has an after market bolt in that place.

We also got a longer rear rubber brake hose for a 2 wheel drive Dodge truck. I don't remember the year but I think they're all the same.

that's what I did on a 65 dart daily driver that came to me as a roller with 003/003's. they look unsightly which may or may not be an issue (just saying) & there is "something" about you want the compressed % of the shock choice to be right (not my area, just a heads up) but iirc something about halfway compressed at rest.

I did shock extenders on mine. I had cheap stiff KYBs and CE drag shocks at different times- both were fun

I knew that Mr. Gasket had them but could not find then for a Mopar. From 30 + years ago, I remember how the SS springs would arch and the shocks could not keep up with the suspension movement, and the shocks could no longer do their job. I assume that this is still true, the longer shock keeps the tires to the ground and free from the bounce/hop.

You will need stronger shocks.. if your using
some sort of stock shocks you need a stiffer
set up to control the axle

more than likely the hop is the shocks are too
short and once they top out they lift the axle
housing so you need to find longer and stronger
shocks or use shock extensions to try and get
the correct design length and set them up at
the length
