$278 per head (bare) sounds pretty good, considering a Stealth is $500 and the valve springs/locks will be discarded, and I've read that the valve seats and guides may need work anyhow. They've sold a bunch of them.

Thoughts? work

Thanks. Any idea what it is? I would have said a Chinese copy but Stealths are already Chinese copies wink

I believe all stealth heads are factory looking on their ends. Not machined flat and polished.

Keep old mopars alive.

I have a set with PEP valves and comp springs and retainers. I did a quick bowl blend and had the shop cut the seats. 2 years no problems. Total cost $1100. Did the same with Source heads cost me $1400. They needed seat work and chamber work

If you spend time on your computer you can wade through all the engine parts being made in China and see that there are at least two companies making B heads.
https://www.alibaba.com/showroom/440-cylinder-heads.html

The Stealth head was developed by 440Source and it is not available from anyone else. The other heads have the slab ends. I believe the more expensive heads are what we know as Sidewinder heads or ProMaxx. The less expensive C. Haray heads are sold under many names and can be bought all the way from rough castings to finished and assembled.

These guys make everything! Cummins 6BT blocks, for example.

Interesting! Thanks for the link.
Never heard of Chongqing Haray but I think you've identified the head I asked about.

It seems that no matter how expensive the head it still has to be checked 100% and probably some things repaired or resized. Even the high-dollar ones have been known to have water leaks, bad seats, etc.

So I'd just as soon buy bare heads cheap, and expect a shop to check/redo the valve seats & guides, do some mild porting, then put my valves, Comp springs and 10 degree locks on.

I’ve done a few sets of Speedmaster BB heads.

They work fine when properly prepped.

We put a set with a Stage 1 type job on a 446 with an rpm intake, qft ss830 carb, Mancini rockers, .540 solid cam, decent rods and flat top pistons.

I just got the heads delivered today. They'll definitely need that step below the intake seat smoothed out.

Those dyno numbers look nice for that little .540 cam. Would you happen to have the flow sheet handy? smile
