I considered the gear vendors and 727 with my duster but I decided a t56 was a much better option. I really think I’d want lock up if I had any kind of overdrive and a stall converter. What is available for a lock up converter with the 518 or 46re? I like the gm trans idea.

If you are concerned about driveline angle with the GearVendors, they have a shorty version that uses the shorter truck/motorhome 727.

I think it only adds about 4" to the overall length of a regular 727.

Depending on your cam specs a 2.90 final drive ratio might be as much as you would want. My 493 with an MP509 was not real happy chugging around 2.76's on a 28" tire unless you were running 75 on the freeway. 3.23 was night and day which I think would be fairly equivalent with your 26" tire and a GV.

The Shorty version of the Gearvendors adds about 7.25" to a 727.
I don't know if it can be bought from Gearvendors or if it's just available at SMR?

They have one that uses the 4x4 output shaft too. That should be a little shorter still.

Installed a gear vendors in a 73 Cuda Gen 2 hemi tti headers,
And 3 inch h pipe , close to “bolt in “ as you can get.
As someone previous mentioned you have to clearance a quarter inch spot about 1/8 deep.No modifications to your trans mount or torsion bar mounts .
