I just bought a parts car that has the oem holes for the chrome trim that goes around the tail lights like a Cuda has but it also has three holes for the Barracuda emblem by the trunk lock and not two like a cuda would have. It also came with a cuda hood with holes for an emblem and a dual exhaust. Both appear to be original to the car. It was a later vin car. I’ve seen an early Barracuda with a 383 four barrel and the blacked out rear panel and I believe it had the full Barracuda script on it. Any ideas as to what I have?

Not a gran coupe. No holes for the rear lock cover. I just thought of something. It does not have any holes for either style of lower rocker molding. All Cudas had those, right? and so did gran coupes. It has holes for wheel opening moldings. Could you get a barracuda with a cuda hood and dual exhaust cutouts through the rear valance?

I have no fender tag or dash, hence all the mystery questions. It’s just an incomplete parts car.

Barracuda with dual exhaust through the rear valence? I'd say no way - I've never seen one in all my years.

The one Barracuda I’ve seen with the m88 option was a 383 4 with a flat hood,no exhaust through the valance and front and rear red rubber bumpers.

without a fender tag, build sheet and no knowledge of it's history. any comment on how it was built from the factory would be speculation at best.
there is NO WAY POSSIBLE to know if the trim was added later in it's life or was installed from day 1.
i myself wouldn't waste any time even thinking about it. if it's a parts car part it out and call it a day.

I agree completely. But that’s the mystery here. The holes in the tail panel all look factory. It’s hard to drill holes in the exact correct position. Especially for the rear tail chrome. It’s not the original paint so it’s really hard to say without taking the paint off. I do have a little knowledge of the history from a source that knows nothing about mopars but that’s it. It’s a shame this has to be a parts car.

The one with the red interior? If so, I remember that car!
