AndyF, I need to go back and read you stroker cam shootout and your book again. I remembered you saying you don't need much cam for a street build. I've probably getting a little wrapped up in reading other people's posts who do more true street/strip!

Sure!

Cam is Howards 288/294 (235/241 @ .050"), .545/.545 hydraulic roller. I did not bush the lifter bores. CNC Stealths, Crane ductile iron rockers, Manton pushrods, Molnar 4.25 crank and 7.1" rods, Mahle pistons, 2800 stall Turbo Action converter, fwd pattern Cheetah mvb, Dana 60 with spool and 3.54 gears.

3 way CE shocks up front with 6 cylinder bars. Cal-Trac setup with their 9 way shocks out back. ET Street Pro rear tires. Weighs 3600 lbs. with my 210 lbs. behind the wheel.

I went with a hydraulic roller after having a flat tappet MP.557 go flat. I absolutely love it! Very quiet valvetrain.

Pump gas, n/a, through the mufflers on street tires with 3.54's. 3,600 lbs.
10.01 @ 133mph with a 250 shot of nitrous an a splash of race gas. 1.36 60 ft. 3,700 lbs.

The low deck 470 that I had 20 years ago was 10:1 compression with HP manifolds and Edelbrock heads. It just had a Mopar 0.528 flat tappet cam in it. That engine would roast the tires in the first 3 gears and would run high 11's in a 3800 lb B body. If you are really just driving on the street then you don't need much more than that. If you are racing then sure, turn up the wick but then you have to live with the downside.

I ran that .528 MP cam in a 440 with 3.23 gears and loved it!

Everyone involved says it will be tame and super reliable

Nice! Look forward to seeing you post the results! You'll have to let us know the street manners once you drop it in! What kind of lifters did you go with?
