I finally decided to attach the ground wire of the battery (new repro size 27) and turn the start key one step to the right to see what was going on with the lights on my 69 bird, and the news are a mixed bag. The dome light does not work-bulb is okay- , no instrument lights, and the windshield wiper motor runs all the time. Other info, I have new engine and underwood wires, the horn is okay, the front and tail lights are okay. I think probably some connections maybe loose, and the windshield wiper switch is shot. This is only day 2 in this matter, and could use some suggestions. Thank you for now.

Assuming fresh resto, probably bad ground for the wiper motor due to excessive paint in the mounting areas.

Considering the other problems though I'd make sure the ground between battery and body is clean and tight.

Ground from body to switch should be checked also and the switch should also be checked
