Interested to gain some knowledge on the Mopar tuff wheel for 1970. Did this only come on A&B bodies late year 1970? Also, what is the correct horn pad for 1970 B body (soft or hard)? Photos would be great. I have attached some 1970 dodge option info on the option code S84.

Yes, A & B-body only - late model year '70 introduction
Yes, soft horn cap - similar or the same as '71

the early wheels have a different tooling seam than the later ones - had one decades ago, sorry no pics

Was the Tuff Wheel available on any of the 1970-1974 Cuda and Challengers?

The only way you'd find an E body wearing a tuff wheel is if:

The dealer installed it when new.
The owner added it at some time
or You own the 70 Dodge Diamante

I see power steering AND light group required.

Do you think light group was required because it was hard to see the in dash turn signal indicators with he 14 1/2” wheel? With fender mounted turn signals you’d get indication on the fender lights.

I have 15” aftermarket wheel and I can’t see dash indicators in my 68 Barracuda. I don’t have a spacer which makes a big difference. But made me think why Light Group would be required??

Also, rallye hooded 70-71 Challengers don’t have fender turn indicators. Not sure about 72-74.

There's a $10 difference between Dart Swinger and Custom. Whats up with that?
Imagine parallel parking a manual steering 440 car with that wheel, lol.

Because the Custom already had a wheel upgrade over other Darts.

See the page at http://www.hamtramck-historical.com/images/dealerships/DealershipDataBook/1970/70_Dart0008.jpg

And no big blocks at all in 1970 A-bodies.

Well aware of that, but it's final transformation into the Diamante it was fitted with a Tuff wheel

Just a leather stitched wrap from MCB, not bad, but not original looking, gets the old "close but no cigar"...

Dales Cuda shop has sold the last of their repro Tuff wheels IIRC

There is a repro tuff wheel that isn't leather wrapped. The grip is super hard...feels almost as hard as plastic. I wasn't impressed when I looked at them. On the other hand, I'm not 100% sure what a factory tuff wheel should feel like. I assume not super hard like the reproduction.

That was most likely the Grant repro... Dales Cuda Shop probably had the most "spot on" repro, but with Dale's passing, who knows the status of his business?...I do know the last one he had was sold several months ago, I was told...

This is the one I'm talking about. Is this the Grant wheel? This one was temping because it comes with the horn switch and cap. The feel was awful though so I went with the leather one from PG.

The NOS original I have is firm but you can compress it. It has the Chrysler part number and Pentastar stamped into the metal on the back side towards the center.

That one above is new to me...

The Grant wheels are "close", but there's subtle differences when next to an original, Classic Industries offers 2 Grant models, pic below, ones a leather wrap style that's firm, and there's the Grant foam model
