I am in need of a new converter behind my 511 and want to be just somewhat conservative, since the engine likely has a pretty flat torque curve. Being the larger converters are cheaper and generally tighter, I’m just wondering how well this converter would work in my combo. I do plan to upgrade heads at some point.

Is this the converter that was recommended by Dynamic?

I have not made any calls. I want to see if there’s anybody with real world experience with this converter behind more cubes. I know it’s been a very popular converter over the years.

I ran one last year behind my 505 , mid 10's footbraking .
Was originally built for my 440 , stalled within 100rpm - 5000/5100
Ran good for about 7-8 years . Hub cracked , had it repaired kept going .

Good experience w/ 452 ci, but haven't run 500+ cubes.

Yes great tight converter for the street and works well at the track with around 4200 stall.

Two members come to mind ProSport and 383 man Both use the 9.5 Dynamic verts and love it with there 500,s and both are in the 10.s with mild motors.

I’ve got a 9 1/2 behind my 493, flashes to ~4500 running 3.55s and 28s, cruises all day on the street no problem.

May be tighter than you want with that cam.

For max ET with his lightweight combo that vert will be most likely tighter with that 274* @ .050 But at 2700# that car is pretty light, with that 511, a tighter vert probably wont hurt much.

He also indicated he wanted a conservative vert. So the 9.5 for its fairly cheap price wouldn't be a bad choice. But not the Best, for max ET

I am assuming even with 274@050, my torque peak is still gonna be pretty low with these smallish heads. My idea was to gain a bit of top end by going bigger cam. But I’m not sure if it will work yet. The car will be down to 2600 soon. And still has a 8 3/4. The converter won’t be ideal later on but I will have plenty of other uses for it by then.

My 3450 lbs. pump gas Duster ran better and drove easier with T/A 8 inch high dollar SS/AA all out race converter built for foot brake racing than it did with the custom built 10.0 inch Continental behind my old 518 C.I. pump gas motor work That motor had 906 heads on it at first and then the MCH CNC RPM heads and finally a set of Indy SR M.W. heads with a Indy 400-3 intake and 1050 CFM Dominator, that final combination was the one that ran the quickest ET and fastest MPH boogie
My current S/P bracket car had a all race 9 inch Mikes Transmission Powerglide converter along with the Mikes Ultra Glide tranny built for the old blown B1 motor that was in the car before I bought that car less motor, that setup with my 675HP E85 bracket 505 C.I. motor went a bunch of 9.0 at 147+ MPH at Woodburn in that car weighing right at 2800 Lbs. with me in it. I ended up having some troubles and took the tranny and converter to A1 trannys in Vancouver and they took both of them apart and recommended that I use the 8 inch race converter that I have from them over that nine inch confused They swear my car will go faster with it work
I'm getting ready to try it to see luck
BTW, I like and use good (not cheap 8 inch converters tsk) 8 inch race converters in a lot of my street cars devil up

I am running the Luppo Dynamic 9.5 street/strip converter and I like it alot. Mine is a street car and this converter has been in my car since 2006. It will flash about 4200 at the track behind my 493 and will drive great on the street as it feels like a stock converter driving on the street. It has no slippage at all driving around on the street. I think I paid $575 in 2006 as I think they run $675 today or maybe a little more but it was a good buy for my money as it has given me 12 years of service so far and still working good. I usually talk with Sean when I called them to order my converter as of course they ask many questions as they should. I also have a 9.5 Dynamic converter in my sons 406 Dart and it works great for him also. Ron

I called dynamic today and made an order. They are building me a custom 9.5 converter for the same $695. They were very professional and helpful. It will flash approximately 4800 behind my current combo. 👍
