It is from a '93 Dakota. Thank you for your time.

I had a Dakota topper on my 62 Dodge short bed and had to add 2x4's on the rails as it was not quite wide enough. It worked fine front to back but not side to side. The gap was about 3/4" on each side and the 2-by's worked perfectly, there are probably better ways to do it but not cheaper! biggrin

I ain't sure what the Dak topper came from but it was roughly ~63" side to side & my 65 is a long bed AFAIK (truck newbie) but for sure it ain't a crew cab (if they even had crew cabs in 65). Jimmy that would be good if 2x4's would solve it.

My 62 short wide came off a crew cab 4x4 ex-Navy plane tug from the Great Lakes Naval Base. I am sure they still made crew cabs in 65. What a driver it must have been, slant six granny 4-speed with 4.88 gears... dino

Probably not. That cool looking backwards rake rear window gets in the way, for one thing.

we ain't hauled it over there yet but I got 63 & 3/4" across the pickup bed top inside edges tonight & previously the topper was ~63" outside to outside cuz it was on the grass/debris & we didn't get a straight line measure
