This 71 cuda supposedly sold at a Mecum auction(Kissimmee?)last year for I think 72k or so. Looks like it's back on the block. Leads me to believe that someone is playing games?

I believe so. One or two members were interested in it.

Thanks, know the car , from my area.
$72K seems about rightfor an auction price.
I don't think anyone would pay that in a private sale though.
As mentioned before, nice driver and of course options, but showing its age.

Obviously a very desirable car.
Does anyone know the details of the car.

How are the body panels, original?
Is it a numbers cars.
Real shaker parts?

Just curious.

This Cuda was at the Mecum Dallas auction last year. It’s a driver at best. Needs a complete restoration to be at the numbers tossed around. Cool options, lacks finish.

I don't know the car in question but in general, original 340 Shaker Hood Challengers & Cudas are bringing bigger money these days. I estimate that you won't be able to buy a nicely restored example for under 100K for much longer. .02

Agreed. Nice driver, but probably wouldn't win any awards .
Original parts on shaker, number's matching car, believe it had all original panels.

Matt,No mention in the add of original engine or trans so I would assume not. The car was sold new in Pennsylvania so again I'd assume replacement metal. The add does mention real shaker.

That could have changed! I read all the time how these numbers matching engines turn up after being separated for 40+ years grin

Well there can always be exceptions. I must be one very lucky SOB but I did find the original transmission for one of my Cudas right here on Moparts. It had been out of the car since 1971 and it was here in the lost and found section 6-7 years ago. Now back in my car.

Think that was lucky, last Fall I reunited the original engine back into my 69 Mustang. That engine had been out of the car since the summer of 1969.

I have a friend that recently bought the original Hemi block for his 1971 Challenger from a well known guy in Prior Lake.

Not saying it happened with this car but it is possible.

Kind of getting of track but why not. BS27R1B transmission was likely look for by Jason the previous owner for a long time. Sometime you get luck like BS27R1B did with his transmission to his Cuda. I have reunited a few Hemi Block Motor, Transmission with there bodies. I do not think anyone can compare what they have done with Barry Washington and what he has done with his registry. Things can happen if you just keep trying and looking and asking people that collect information and love mopars.

Now there have been some blatant lies in the hobby about finding the original motor or transmission to some Hemi Cars. There has been some individuals that have reserial numbered some block and tried to sell the block to the owners of the Bodies. Yes it is all about the money and how much you can get because this mopar hobby states an original drive train is worth some much more to the Vehicle when selling it.

BS27R1B keep looking for that other big piece, if you found two big pieces threes a charm.

You never know where this stuff is going to pop up. Our car ended up with a mechanic's lien for non-payment for body work. Apparently the owner went to prison and couldn't pay his bill. The body shop sold the car and the driveline was in the prisoner's garage and separated from the car. We restored the car to as new condition with the exception of the shaker and wing added. Built a strong 408" stroker instead of the original 340. If and when the engine and trans shows up, I'm not sure how interested I would be in reuniting them. If people think it's crazy money for the above mentioned 'Cuda, so be it, but I wouldn't take any less for mine either. Every car show I go to, there is no shortage of people who leave a business card wanting to buy it. With what it costs to restore one and desirability I would think 80K is probably right in the ballpark.

This is a 71 cuda that I was able to see at the BJ Scottsdale 2007 auction. Pretty well optioned and pretty good money at the time. The 71 cuda seems to be one of the few cars that might hit this kind of $ again.

$110K for that? 383 auto , wrong steering wheel, I'm sure more.
Didn't think PW , rubber bumpers and AC would take it that high...
