Picked up a decent '92 150 yesterday, one of the few mechanical issues it has is the fuel gauge not working. A new fuel pump was included with it, the previous owner was of the opinion that was where the problem lay. Is the sender for the gauge part of the pump, & is that the probable issue?

Since the pump in it currently is working fine I don't want to change it needlessly, nor waste my time chasing the incorrect fix.

Thanks

elec or mech pump? my 85 ramcharger (mech) is inop (reads empty). I think the sender is in the top of the tank & I sure ain't gonna drop the tank to fix it (its a junk DD) but I might ohm the wires either back there or behind the dr kick panel to see if it is a sender issue or a prob further up front. here's a BTT for ya.

Thanks. The pump is electric, on this truck I wouldn't need to drop the tank, just raise the bed a bit. Had to replace the pump on my '01 several years ago & raising the bed is relatively simple. Not an option with your Ramcharger.

If it's just a fuel pump then no the sender is not part of it. If it's the complete assembly then yes the sender and float should be included.

Okay, sounds as though that should be it, it is the complete canister assembly. Not too difficult, better than tracking down faulty wiring if that is where the problem lies.

Thanks!
