Wrong down
The first blown gas hemi motor I built was bigger C.I.(499 vs 496 C.I.) with less compression ratio(7.8 to 1) and it made less HP per C.I. than the smaller motor with more compression ratio made at the same amount of boost and RPM shock
Science and theory is one thing, reality and results in the real world is sometimes different shruggy work

I'd be looking for gains with the shape of the piston top, flame travel and all that witchcraft. It's safe to assume the new heads flow a bunch more than the old ones?

With that displacement there should be no shortage of NA torque so I'd keep the CR in the 7's if I could and if 8 psi didn't make me smile there's always 10. I think the lower CR gives you that possibility on gas.

Compression is your friend if you run enough octane

Nope, I have street cars for that.
My Procharged SRT Challenger is over 10to1 and makes 10 pounds of boost on 93 octane. But on your deal I would stick to 9.5 to 1. Under 8 to 1 is just not efficient and your giving up power.

I think your right, I would think at least 9, you have plenty of power for the street (and you don't seem over concerned with that anyways) and no one wants it to be a turd at the track

Looked at the charts today. 9:1 i would have to stay at 3 to 4 lbs on premium pump.

I’m no expert so take this for what it’s worth.
I have heard because of the aluminum heads which dissipate heat so fast you can run your compression normally 1-2 points higher than with iron heads. I have also been told many times more boost can’t make up for low compression (of course it does to some point) I guess you really need to decide where you want it to run its absolute best. On the street or at the track? I would think 7 to one with aluminum heads and more boost at the track it would still move but not be at its best. Maybe you prefer to make it run it’s best on the street.
I don’t think one choice would be best for both but Once again I’m no expert
