Fuel pressure?

Fuel pressure? - 04/29/19 01:09 AM

What fuel pressure does a 5.7 Hemi need? I need to buy a pump for my 64 wagon to 5.7 Hemi conversion. I can't mount an in-tank pump, so I'll have to mount one on the frame as close to the tank as possible. But, I need to know the pressure requirement before I order one. Thanks.

I run ~58psi on my stock injectors.

Any chance you can clear an Aeromotive Phantom kit? We installed one on a plastic D100 tank, which has no aftermarket tank support and it works very well!

Most any ~200-340lph EFI pump will have no problem running the average V8. I'd do everything I could to avoid an external pump, however.

In a decade of EFI use I've run an external Walbro 255 and it's been just fine. On an all day drive it does get a little loud but never left me stranded. 43psi.

*edit* 43psi is for my classic FAST controlled 383, not for a Gen III, should have made that clear.

I had the same problem with my 58, not enough room for a efi pump to add to the top of the tank. I used a low pressure pump by the tank to feed a fitech command center 2 under the hood. The command center 2 runs 58 psi and continuously circulates fuel back to the tank. Oh, you have to add a return line.

The station wagon is stood on edge in the driver side quarter panel. So, no, there just isn't any room.

I can't remember, is there a return line coming off the fuel rails? If not how did you route a return line?

I ran a stainless supply and a return line down the inter passenger frame rail. The fitech kit came with a fitting to install the return into the tank.

Factory rails do not have a return fitting. It's not uncommon to run a regulator near the tank. That setup makes for some fluctuating fuel pressures, but it is at least consistent fluctuating that can be tuned to.
