When your Company’s namesake is known as the “Camfather”, it only makes sense that you offer a full lineup of camshaft and valvetrain components for the most popular applications. It seems as if the most popular new application at this years show is the Gen III Hemi, and Isky Racing Cams agrees.

Rolling out a complete line of valvetrain components for Mopar’s latest hot rod engines, Isky Racing Cams covers the whole spectrum of applications. “We have a full line of camshafts for everything from mild street builds to all out race builds for both the 5.7-liter and 6.1-liter Gen III Hemis,” says Rod Tubangui. “We also have profiles for naturally aspirated, supercharged and turbocharged applications as well.”

While camshafts are right in their name, the team at Isky focuses on all aspects of the valvetrain. Their lifters are widely regarded as some of the best in the industry, and that translates into their late-model HEMI offerings. “We worked with Johnson Lifters on the valving of our lifters to get the optimum performance,” revelas Tubangui. “In addition to the standard needle lifters, we have our EZ Roll bushing for heavy-duty applications, that really sets our lifters apart.”

To complement their camshafts and lifters, Isky has teamed up with one of the most respected valvespring manufacturers in the business. “We worked with PSI Springs to bring out two valvespring part numbers specifically for the 5.7 and 6.1 Hemi engines,” says Tubangui.

Isky’s next project is to undertake the variable valve timing Hemis, so make sure to keep an eye on Isky’s website for the most up-to-date status on that front.

Awesome! Although, it's kind of puzzling why they didn't do the vvt camshafts first. That's where the market is now. To my knowledge, Comp is the only one making a vvt cam blank and that's why everyone is so outrageously priced. Isky can undercut them by a couple hundred dollars easy and basically take the whole market.

Here's the "flyer" off the web site, cam profiles look like most that are out there, But the Lifters look good.

the Lifters are a result of working with Johnson , basically it's a Johnson body with Isky rollers , one part# is needle bearing the other part# is for the bushing roller.
I'm not too thrilled with the cam profiles, looks like they are treating the G3 as if it were a typical small block, but it's a start at least they are getting their feet wet in this market.

Re: New Gen III Isky Products at Sema - 11/10/18 07:56 PM

Wish there were more options for VVT block, even cams made for a VVT block that don't use the VVT would be awesome if it could save some $$$, I don't understand why we can get a SRT 6.4 cam from a dodge dealer for $68 but ANY aftermarket cam will cost $1000 ??? Is the SRT cam useing litterally every .001 of lift possible without hitting a piston? I dont buy that, I milled a 5.7 block .030 (checked it without a head gasket and still had plenty of clearance) and ran a 6.4 cam just fine, surely they can find more lift without hitting stuff and limiting advance/retard.

I also agree about the profiles looking like they're intended for a SB.

Does anyone know if those lifters are oiling up to the PR or using the factory rockershaft down oiling? Do the rollers just get splash oiling or is there more oil getting there somehow?

Re: New Gen III Isky Products at Sema - 11/11/18 02:41 PM

I haven't had a set in my hand yet, but from what I understand these use "isky's 3 point oiling, so yes the roller should be feed by the valley and the pushrod

My thoughts on the cams is this...I could be wrong.

I think most(Isky,Luniti,Crower) are getting their pre Eagle/6.1 cam core from CMC, their only G3 offering is a .350 net lift cam ,.5775 with a 1.65 with a 1.65 rocker ratio
Comp has pre Eagle core that'll go higher. and I think(again I could be wrong) Comp is the only one with an off the self VVT cam core,I know Callies had a VVT Cam blank listed in the 2016 Catalog and I bought a few from someone who was at Arrington's auction.
Keep in mind one of the biggest limits to lift in the G3 is that long lifter bore. the G3 lifters are about 3.1 inches long from roller to edge of body,
to use a smaller base circle cam we need liters that are at least 3.20-3.25 in length
.660 is about the highest we can go with stock style lifter bodies , unless you mill down the yoke area and shorten the lifter bore...not an easy task.

Re: New Gen III Isky Products at Sema - 11/11/18 03:33 PM

one thing is for certain as we get in to more aggrieve cams for the G3 we'll have to start to pay attention to Valve to valve clearance as well as valve to piston , unlike a wedge where the only diminishing clearance is valve to piston

Re: New Gen III Isky Products at Sema - 11/12/18 08:45 PM

A wedge does have to worry about valve to bore clearance as lift gets crazy with giant valves. A hemi valve always moves away from the bore.

Looks like Texas Speed is beating Isky to the VVT punch. They announced a lineup of VVT hemi cams at PRI. I forgot to take any pictures but they had one on display. Why Isky was even bothering with the old non-vvt cams first I'll never know.

Re: New Gen III Isky Products at Sema - 12/13/18 04:21 AM

my guess is they are easier as they can just slap some lobes from existing set ups on there. The VVT needs a lot more thought unless it is just made to be locked down.

because pre Eagle cams out sell VVTs by 7 to 1 also cam cores are more readily available.

Hopefully this ends up changing. IMO VVT block are stronger.

Doubtful on the 7 to 1 number. Pretty much anything in the last decade hemi-wise is vvt and lots of people are swapping cams in them. Swap cars, obviously most use non-vvt. Because the cost and availability of vvt cams are silly. Comp is controlling the market with their ridiculously priced core.

Has anyone talked to delta or any other re-grinders about re-grinding the factory VVT cams?

Re: New Gen III Isky Products at Sema - 12/14/18 10:39 PM

I was at PRI last weekend.

Bullet said they have VVT cores on the shelf and to call and they can grind what you want. He said they are less expensive than what we are used to seeing for VVT hemi cams.

CamMotion said he has a VVT hemi on the stand and he's measuring everything before they make one available.

One VERY cool thing I saw was Stainless Headers has a set of stainless twin turbo headers for the Gen 3. Wish I would have taken a picture of it. It was sweet.

What orientation do they put the turbos? Did it have an oem front accessory drive on it?

Re: New Gen III Isky Products at Sema - 12/15/18 07:08 AM

My guess is that any new turbo headers are for the newer cars and won't work on the old stuff.

Seen the Comp sale #s Comp it is 7 to 1 ,
Comp is not the only one with VVT cores, Bullet and CP both have cores , the CP is limited to .600 lift
Bullet has been great to work with.

Looking forward to what Cam motion can do, Bullet grinds are in the $550 range , I have a custom .710/690 here for a (4.09 X 4.20) 441 build is using Jesel lifters and Rockers.

BGE is definitely stronger than the 6.1, no if ands or analy retentive buts about it. ....but keep in my Rob Goss went in to the high 6s on a modified 6.1 block before they switched over to the Alum block.

Re: New Gen III Isky Products at Sema - 12/17/18 06:23 PM

Good questions Silver, they may be for the newer cars. They were compact though, like a factory truck exhaust manifold facing forward so they may work on an older car. Would be interesting to see if they would work.

Re: New Gen III Isky Products at Sema - 12/17/18 09:22 PM

The newer cars are tighter under the hood, in front of the engine, beside the engine, on top of the engine...

Re: New Gen III Isky Products at Sema - 12/18/18 06:11 AM

The new cars don't have the a arms and steering boxes in the way tho
