So glad you got your intake fine!
I talked to Jordan at Prefix with the lack of adequate packing in the box. Seems like the shipping department dropped the ball on that one and will not happen on future shipments.

Re: My new intake - 06/28/18 02:49 AM

Whats the intake height to the carb flange?
Posted By: sixpackgut

Re: My new intake - 06/28/18 03:55 AM

I think its supposed to be 8.5" tall but my friend jokingly said he could hide his turbo under my intake.

I nit pick intakes all the time. There is very few intakes that I like. The BB mopar 337 intake is an intake I like. But this intake is made in a way of every belief I have about intakes this intake has it. It would be a real disapointment to me if it doesn't outperform in a big way

smile I suppose I could have looked on the Prefix website too...thanks!

Call me crazy, but the pic of your intake looks taller than 8.5 inches. Just for kicks, next time your around the intake, would you measure the height to confirm please?

I just measured the height of an OEM 6.1 intake and it's about 8.25 inches to the top, give or take a smidge.

Just trying to see how much height would be needed to still use a flat hood, if possible. Won't know for sure until I get a motor in the car.

Take a swag: For the cost of the DP intake, the 6.1 intake could be sent to Wilson or (similar) and be completely ported and modded to take a larger front TB. Would there still be a big performance difference between the two? It's all about keeping the flat hood - lol

Re: My new intake - 06/28/18 05:36 AM

I dont know if you have ever priced Wilson intake porting but it is around $1600 for a normal intake. Porting a stock 6.1 intake is a miserable experience. But for an OEM intake, there is none better than a 6.1 intake. It flows great. Has really good taper. The differences between the 2 intakes comes down to runner lenght.

They would sell 3 times as many at $400 but then they only make $1200 so they make more money not having to make/sell/ship near as many. An affordable intake is one of the big things we are lacking but only for carbs as the factory 6.1 6.4 and 5.7 eagle are all really good intakes for EFI and can be had cheap.

Yes, that is really the only thing lacking in G3 hemi cost control: a more affordable intake(s).

For a "race" application the Arrow shorter single plane at $630 seems like a good compromise.

I like the looks of it Ray.

Are you going to be able to do a back to back test with it compared to the Ritter?

Re: My new intake - 06/30/18 03:51 AM

Aren’t the Ritter and the Drag Pack virtually identical?

They are close, but I believe Ray's new intake is he new version of the drag pak. Drag Pak 2.0 so to speak.

Its actually 3.0. First was the super tall 4150. Then a cut down original with a big 4500 adapter that was a little odd looking, then this one.

Just a dart, i would like to dyno both. The problem is I am just swamped with work that I actually feel guilty if Im working on my own stuff and not customers. So not sure when it might happen.

One of my thoughts is my 3.73s in the car is not going to help the new intake at all at the track

Re: My new intake - 06/30/18 03:35 PM

I get the work feelings totally.

Please give us feed back on that intake when you can. I need to fire up with what I have, but there may be one of those in my future.

Yes sir, I figured I’d be making aluminum dust if I go with that intake. But I have a nice 6bbl hood that I want to keep on this heap. It will a street strip deal, so while I’d like to have the baddest carb intake it’s going to have to be a compromise.

If I ran Mopar, which I don't, I'd rather have 3x as many intakes out there sporting my brand name. Considering intakes are likely keeping some out of the G3 market, they are only stifling sales elsewhere. Chevy sells a lot of stuff because they make a lot of stuff, and their prices have pulled more than a few Mopar fans to the dark side.

That intake looks awesome, one day I'll get my hands on one for sure.
