5.7 in a 67 Belvedere - 05/29/18 03:48 PM

Hi All,

this weekend was the start of the 5.7 in the Belvedere. Everything fell into place relatively easy.

we used the motor mount kit from Bouchillon and all went well.

Then motor still has the factory exhaust manifolds on it and there is plenty of room for exhaust pipes for now.
the adaptor Flex Plate from ATI is spot on. now we get to collect all the expensive parts like fuel system and MSD box. we did get the PCM with the motor so my son is thinking about getting that flashed and programed but he will still need a fuel system after that.

But so far the swap is going good.

We do have one question regarding the Oil Pan to Steering link. there is a little interference when you go lock to lock on full turn the drain plug bolt hits the link, any one else see this??

We used the Milodon 31000 and pick up. Just not sure why the oil drain plug hits the center link on full turn

That looks like it sits pretty low in the chassis, as if the valve covers are barely above the shock stems and nuts. Maybe the engine sits a bit too low? How is the bellhousing clearance to the tunnel? Is the engine/trans sitting at the correct angle?

there is a lot of room, the oil pan is flush with the crossmember so I don't personally think it sits to low. the bellhousing sits just like it did with the 318 in it. I will check angle of trans. I like the way it sits in there but that's just my opinion. I will keep you all posted. the top trans to block bolts were a pain in the butt, so I think we are in the right spot. I will keep posting as we get going further on this. it will be a slow project as my son is on a budget and in college.

it looks really cool sitting in there. cant wait to do this in my car.

Sorry for the delay with info, I did get out to the garage yesterday to measure the angle of the motor the way is sits now. the motor is level(.05 degrees) side to side and front to back there is a 5.5 degree tip down(Transmission Tail shaft tip down to floor)

In my opinion this is expectable and better than the way my SB sits in my dart.
