you have to order a torque converter-----tell them what you have and they will build it to avoid needing the sheet metal spacer....

I found out after bolting it all together that the ATI Flexplate is made for Hemi Torque Convertor bolts which is a size larger than the stock 727 convertor you will likely order. The pads will have to be specified as such and also source the 4 bolts at the same time.

It seems that a lot of folks were bolting up the trans without the spacer until somebody discovered that the 5.7 crank flange extended further from the block than the LA/Magnum.

I put a straight edge across a crank flange on both a 5.9 mag and a 5.7 hemi and the 5.7 crank mounting surface does not go out as far on the 5.7 so a spacer would make things worse not better all else being the same.
The hemi does use an 8 bolt plate instead of a 6 bolt SB pattern and the 5.7 has the same 8 bolt pattern as a 4.7. Seems like you could use the 4.7 or 5.7 flex plate and just take off the starter ring gear on the converter. Edit At least on a 727 as the ring gear is the same diameter.

I used the ATI flexplate and a converter I had behind a bigblock and it bolted right up no spacer and no issues been this way 3 years now no issues.

You can buy flexplate from mancini for $70. With one of my torque converters i needed to make a spacer, changed converter than didn't need a spacer. Changed trans and another converter and didn't need a spacer. Mock it up outside the car first
