Mds delete question

Mds delete question - 02/23/18 02:10 PM

Just curious if anyone has just used soft plugs in place of buying the mds delete plugs? Not that the plugs are expensive but just curious if there's any reason you couldn't do it? Thanks.

I have a couple blocks here but none are MDS.Since the solenoids or plugs are in the oil galley an oil pressure drop could happen if neither are used to direct the flow.

a soft plug will not work, the oil will squirt out the bypass hole and flood the rocker area, may even drain the pan as well as a drop in oil pressure.

Use the mds delete plugs, they work fine,
put them on a rebuilt 5.7 long block for my 05 Ram,
prime the engine before starting, check oil pressure!

If you use just the MDS delete plugs without replacing the MDS lifters your engine will only run on 4 cylinders.

It's getting delete lifters. Just curious on the soft plugs. Ordered the delete plugs.

I think you could actually do two soft plugs, essentially one each where the orings are on the delete plugs but I'm not messing with it over 50 bucks.

Thanks

it will not work it bleeds off pressure , I pulled a wrecked Molnar crank and some burned up Oliver rods from a short block that someone (not me) tried it on.

I failed to mention my trucks not wired for mds, the engine was built using
regular lifters, the reman block just had the holes for mds, so yes your right, need the right ones, I just had to plug the holes.
