I might have a deal on a set of Eddy heads, so the search for a 6.1 block begins.

I like the price on the Summit Aluminum blocks, but I will have to wait a bit...

What's going price for a junk yard special iron block?

5.7 early 500 CND
6.2 hellcat block AKA truck block from dealer 1400 to 1600.
IMO That block will take a ton of abuse.

Look in the for sale section... I think there's a 6.1 for sale

There are few that pop up on Ebay, last 6.1 I saw on the E-Bag was a sleeved stocker went for $520...
paid 1k for a pair of 6.1s out of Philly 2 weeks ago on CL. there was a Bare block 6.1 on CL out of Long Island for $750.end of Sep guy sold it as I called.
as for pre 09 5.7s Car-part .com you can find them as low as $250 , 09-up about $450-500
if you want a 5.7 Up where you are in NY, I see $1500-2500 Junker rot bucket rams for sale all the time.

Price includes truck freight too? Very tempting idea

Its half the price of current G2 Hemi blocks and you can use the stock valve train. At this point, if you want a Hemi, this is the route to go as valve train on a G2 is usually the issue in a street strip combo.

My goal, all alum 426 and 700hp on pump gas and be able to switch between EZ efi 2.0 and a carb for Gasser racing. I will also need to go to a distributor to be legal...but we will see cause that looks like a lot of work.

G3 is something I really want to do but my Dad and I have soooo much LA engine stuff its hard to justify just yet. When Sixpackgut posted his short block for sale I almost put a for sale sign on my jeep, that was a good deal.

I've talked to Quine Scott face to face about letting me use a g3 hemi in South East Gassers. Thinking that might be my next progression of racing I would like to do. He said No and Im not willing to build a gasser using an old school engine

The only gasser rule that I can see that would prohibit one, is it requires a distributor...Couple of those conversions are out there, so we will see. Got a nice set of Eddy heads on the way.
