My gen 3 project - 04/29/17 12:59 PM
Little update. I was at BES this week checking my header flange fitment and my block was in the boring machine.
We are getting close- Should have it back in a few weeks.
4.060 bore 3.900 stroke 10:1 GEN3 performance block,
thitek heads 2.200 Ti intake valves inconel exhaust
Winberg Crank
Callies ultra billet steel rods
Ross pistons
242/242 .615 .615 @120 cam from Comp
I have a set of billet precision 7675 ball bearing turbos that will make up for the short stroke and low compression.

Re: My gen 3 project - 04/29/17 04:41 PM
Good to see more Gen 3 aluminum blocks out there. They should all be like that from the factory.
I wonder what improvements the World Products block has over the Mopar block. Probably much more stiffer.

Re: My gen 3 project - 04/30/17 02:30 PM
I know that they use a more robust material and that there is more material overall because the weight over the original.m Mopar block is pretty significant. Something like 20lbs heavier.

You're gonna need some steering column mods once you put the heads on. Then it wont seem so small.

Re: My gen 3 project - 05/03/17 03:37 AM
2.10 first gear Turbo 400 and a ford 9"with a 3.55 I think. The car runs a 30" tall radial in the back.
I haven't fully decided on the gear vendors. Some people say it needs the floor modified and some say it doesn't. I haven't had to cut to floor up yet and don't really want to do that. And they are not cheap....I've kinda went over budget. Again...

Re: My gen 3 project - 05/03/17 06:07 PM
Going through this right now with a Reid case 400 in my 71 demon build. The floor will need modified for the 400 with a GV on it. they have one for a TF that will fit with "dings" in the floor pan but it has a super long tailshaft adaptor I didn't care for and I wanted a aftermarket SFI case so I didn't need to mess with shields.

I'll post some pics on my build thread of my tunnel mods to fit the GV unit, plan on making sparks this weekend.
And what's another 3k for a build like your doing? LOL
Low rpms on drag week are my main reason I want one.

Re: My gen 3 project - 05/31/17 06:24 PM
I'm guessing it will 1300-1400 pretty handily... with the hydraulic roller cam, I'm not sure what the limit will be and I'm not into speculating.
That hellcat charger that Barton just built made serious power to the tires on 11lbs of boost and a 300 shot of nitrous. Something like 1450
I'm going to be in the 20-25 lbs of boost range so we will just have to see.
I'm using the AEM infinity fuel injection.

You'll have to give Josh a day or two to get to this, he's one of the guys involved with the Monster Mopar Weekend this weekend

Re: My gen 3 project - 08/01/17 03:55 AM
I did just get back from putting on Monster Mopar Weekend. Sorry for the delayed response
The motor plate was a square blank that I drew a radius on and cut out with a band saw and cleaned up with a dynafile. I got my blank from Mike Roth at MR2 performance (765) 483-9371
I do have a few updates but we have been working on the underside of the car and are just now starting headers.
We have a prototype set of the Header flanges from Brian Smith. What an awesome piece.
We had to get some 1 7/8 centerline radius tubes for the primaries and they will be here tomorrow. Hope to give more frequent updates now.

Glad they fit well Josh. I placed an order with my machine shop Tuesday for 6 sets in the 1 7/8" primary size. They will be in stock in 4 to 5 weeks. If anyone wants to claim a set (no need to send $) just let me know and you will be one of the first to have them. PM me if you need pricing info. They will only be available in stainless steel unless I get enough interest to justify an order of mild steel flanges.

You are thinking of Tonys duster that used to run KOS. That's a different car although one of my favorites.
That car is still in Detroit owned by Tony Masconi It's painted and has a demon tail panel in it now. I think it's blue or purple.
No updates lately. My fabricator has been really busy with his day job as he runs the fab shop at DSR

How did you determine engine position, did you place it where it best suits for component location or use the standard mounting location on the crossmember or transmission mount?
Posted By: joshking440
Re: My gen 3 project - 01/04/18 01:50 AM
it’s same mopar offset as my big block was.
The car started as a big block 727 then I swapped that out for a t400. When I went gen 3 I stuck the t400 back in the car and mounted the engine the motorplate ended up with in .090 of where it used to be. So I added a mid plate and pushed it forward

Making headway.
Driveshaft loop/trans crossmember is in. Driveshaft is in. Remade the motorplate and working on getting the exhaust off the turbos handled.
The car goes Wednesday to have intercoolers plumbed and cold side plumbing finished up.
Then engine bay paint and reassembly. It’s starting to feel like there’s an end in sight.

They have a short 727 version of the GV that uses the short truck/MH trans output shaft. Shortens the overall length about 10" IIRC.

Funny you mention it. The car was supposed to go tomorrow to have Intercoolers built that fit on top of the fenderwells but I had a last minute change of heart and felt like it would ruin the looks under the hood so I’m going to not. I have plenty of pump and injector for e85 so I’m going to max that out first. If that’s not enough power... I’ll add them.

VERY NICE . Is that exhaust aluminum ?
Posted By: joshking440
Re: My gen 3 project - 04/25/18 01:42 PM
Yes. It’s 11 gauge aluminum. I have the first 90° off the turbo and another small 30°ish bend in stainless then I used a v band to switch to aluminum. I’ve seen a lot of very high hp cars do this and no one has anything negative to say as long as the thing material is used.
Race parts solutions sells it.

The weather was somewhat of an adventure. Maybe next year?

That one fast magnum you were against... well not as fast as your car, but I was impressed by both cars.

That was the fastest pass by a dodge magnum ever actually.
Also a BES gen 3 with a pro charger and some no2

How much does the car weigh in race trim?
I want a Gen 3 in my KOS Demon now. The heck with wrestling with BBs in these A bodies.

Gen 3 is wider then a 440 and doesn’t package any better then a big block. A matter of facet I didn’t have to move my motor plate mount. I simply added a midplate and it was perfect.
Car weighs 3520 going down the track

FWIW it's my Kid that has your duster as his screen saver, He's working on a 422ci BGE build with 4.5 Whipple for his 70 duster

That’s awesome! I’ve got a hellcat/68 barracuda project I’m working on as well.
If your son needs anything don’t hesitate to reach out.
Easier to get me on Facebook as I don’t check forums often
