Anyone tried using studs and flange nuts in place of the rocker shaft bolts? Any disadvantages to doing this?

I was going to do this a few years ago, but ARP wanted around $230 or so bucks for the appropriate length studs, nuts & washers. So, I didn't bother.

I was thinking of getting some M8-1.25 x 60mm Grade 45H alloy steel studs and using those. Pretty sure they equate to a 12.9 fastener. I believe they would do the job, but I am still researching their use in such an application. The ones I am looking at have the 4mm hex machined into the one end to allow for easier install/removal...

I'm a big advoocate for studs versus bolts, but I'm not sure this application is worth the effort. Not alot of torque on these fasteners.

The engine I am building had one of the bolt spacers break (that the bolt passes through), the thin factory rocker shaft spacer failed and allowed the rocker to slide sideways and eat into the stand, popped the push-rod out, etc. So I decided to go overkill and use links to tie opposite stands together and shaft collars on the other side of the rocker to positively locate them. I just figured while I am at it I will convert to studs in the process. Probably a freak occurrence, but I can't stomach going back with what it already had...

If you mean pictures of the studs in place, they are on order now. I should have them in a few days...
