Everything looks good, would like to see the mains if possible. Would also like to see sonic numbers.

Just ordered mine. Any chance you got those sonic numbers?
As soon as I receive mine I'll have numbers.

Re: Hellcat Block Pictures - 07/21/16 06:26 PM

Don't get too excited about the sonic numbers, thinking they can be punched huge. It won't be thicker than what you already see with existing blocks. Meaning minimal material.....

Even though the numbers will be minimal I do believe they are cast with better material.
I've never heard of one splitting a cylinder.
Steff did you ever check yours?

How much stronger is this hellcat block, I'm thinking about getting one and build a twin turbo engine for 2000hp

Casting flash looks to be a thing of the past.

Re: Hellcat Block Pictures - 01/24/17 07:55 PM

Been thinking about buying on of these, odd question, but what side is the starter on? I want to build a 6.2 for a 2003 ram that I want to put an A833 in,

Re: Hellcat Block Pictures - 01/24/17 10:07 PM

Looks like it still has powdered metal main caps.

These things are as good as an R3 as you will get.
Half the cost and no machining.
The new Demon variant has more HP Rumours approaching 900 hp.
These blocks are stout!

Re: Hellcat Block Pictures - 02/04/17 03:54 PM

That's a nice piece. Will the 09+ accessories fit this block, or are the heads, timing cover and oil pan stuff proprietary to the hellcat block?

Re: Hellcat Block Pictures - 02/04/17 05:43 PM

The hellcat block is the same as any late model 5.7 and 6.4 hemi accessories wise.
The hellcat and 6.4 truck block share the same casting but are machined differently.

Re: Hellcat Block Pictures - 02/13/17 12:11 AM

What is the price of these blocks and can you just purchase a stroker kit and drop it in without machining?
Posted By: MattW

Re: Hellcat Block Pictures - 02/13/17 12:48 AM

1600 or less

Strokers are easier than a R3.
4.25 went into a 5.7 with ease.

Re: Hellcat Block Pictures - 02/13/17 02:59 AM

Really not much point doing a regular small block Mopar if you are starting from scratch, just need to figure out what heads to use.
Posted By: MattW

Re: Hellcat Block Pictures - 02/13/17 06:32 PM

This is from a dealer so you don't pay shipping. This is a complete machined block. From my understanding it's the exact same casting as the truck engine just the hellcat block is machined differently.
IMO unless you already haver the parts, going small block over G3 doesn't make any sense. The combination will make more power with less.

Re: Hellcat Block Pictures - 02/13/17 10:11 PM

Yeah, makes it really hard on those of us with a mountain of obsolete LA stuff. Now I'm two generations behind, first the Mag and now the Hemi.

Re: Hellcat Block Pictures - 02/16/17 11:16 PM

426ci hellcat block seems rather enticing! with the newer blocks, could you use the 32tooth reluctor cranks and older style cams to get away from the VVT and go with an MSD6 CDI? I try and keep it simple...

Yes on the reluctor wheel , NO on the cam. But all you need to do with the stock cam is lock it out. Comp cams has a kit.

Ha! I've yet to build a stout small block anything... I'm still in Purple Shaft land...
At that price, wow. It's hard not to justify doing Gen 3 over LA or big block stuff...

Re: Hellcat Block Pictures - 02/17/17 05:43 PM

Been Gen III Hemi for almost 3 yrs. No regrets, wanted a high powered reliable, efficient, pump gas engine and it is that in spades.

will a 6.1L cam sensor work with the 6.2/6.4 timing set?

Re: Hellcat Block Pictures - 06/05/18 05:42 AM

Anyone working with the 6.2 block yet? Curious about using a 5.7 cam core?
Posted By: MattW

Re: Hellcat Block Pictures - 06/05/18 05:19 PM

What R U asking ?
5.7 VVT cam core is the same as the 6.2?
Posted By: HotRodDave

Re: Hellcat Block Pictures - 06/05/18 06:21 PM

I have one and the cams look identicle in fitment dimentions
Posted By: HotRodDave

Re: Hellcat Block Pictures - 06/05/18 06:27 PM

I think the 5.7 cam may be better to start with as the base circle is not ground down as low.

Anyone care to elaborate on the supposed machining difference in the BGE and hellcat? I dont see any...
Posted By: hudsonhornet7x

Re: Hellcat Block Pictures - 06/05/18 06:34 PM

From my understanding the only difference between the BGE truck block and the BGE Hellcat block is the paint job.
Posted By: MattW

Re: Hellcat Block Pictures - 06/05/18 08:15 PM

From what I've read the hellcat block is machined differently with deeper coolant pockets. Wherever they drill into they go a little deeper. Then there's the torque plates when they hone it.
Other than that I have nothing.

Wonder why they don't offer the BGE bare block anymore? I can't find a dealer selling one right now.
