I'm surprised I don't seem to have any on track pics of the car over the years at the historic races at Sebring. Here are interior pics, a little uncomfortable IMO relative to today's safety standards. It was a mid pack car in the races if I remember correctly, but I was highly suspicious of how many front runners were actually loose rule breaking stroker small blocks.
My first question would be what is that boxed area above the rear end seen in the attached above pic.? It doesn't look large enough for any third link.
That car's been running in Vintage T/A for many years; yeah, runs about mid-pack. There's quite a difference in pace between the earlier cars and the later,as rules loosened and the big budgets came in. Several of the guys basically take turns running at the front, But to me it doesn't really diminish the show.
I see the yellow Dart running at Road America pretty much every year for the HAWK Brian Redman Vintage races (mid-July... every year). Its a cool car with true vintage history.
Does it handle well? I'm pretty interested in building a road car. Have1 273 motor that I was building for SS class and just needs the appropriate cam. Road racing is a very different concept than drag racing for me. I've been looking for an old time Nascar guy to give me the inside scoop on getting the factory front suspension to really work in a road race course.
From what I have seen as a spectator, the driver knows the car's limits well, and the engine also helps in that regard, of not getting over the edge, so that would be a qualified Yes.
