What are you guys running for carbs on your track day cars?
The Red Brick ran a BLP 650 CFM carb that performed flawlessly, but cost $1000

Any decent carbs that would work that don't cost $1000? I need a carb for my stock 5.9/ 360 but plan to convert to a Gen 3 Hemi later this year/ next winter.

Any decently calibrated 4150/60 with centerhung floats will be fine. Some of us found front jet extensions help prevent them from dying at end of hard braking - especially to a dead stop.
Tim made an AFB work on the Valiant's earlier engines, back when he ran it in Street Mod. So clearly they can be used as well, although some tweaking may be needed.

With a Holley or Carter chose something older that hasn't been molested as the calibrations are generally better (as was QC).

I got that BLP carb at no cost since it was featured in a magazine article but you're correct, the average guy is going to pay a lot for a full race carb like that one.

If I was working on the Brick these days I'd sell that carb and put a Holley Sniper on there. I'd much rather spend $1000 on EFI than on a carb. The Holley Sniper will run better than a carb since there won't be any fuel slosh and it has a built in data logger. We would've loved to have a data logger on the Brick. That would've been awesome for track days. Back then it was super expensive to buy a data logger and now they come for free when you buy a $995 EFI system.

The Taxi runs an out of the box Quickfuel 750 Vac Secondary. Has the Jet Extensions, but I'm pretty sure it came with those. We've messed with Vac Springs and Jets, that's it.

Never had an issue at Track Day's or Autocross.

Thank you for the replies. I'll be buying a carb this week.

AndyF, yes the few things that car needs to make it perfect, would be fuel injection, 5 speed, and a paint job. Its crazy how much all the stuff has come down in price.

I don't know about paint. I like the sleeper look on that car.

I have a AED carb, they make them for circle track racers.... I believe it was around $750US a few years ago.
I’m currently building a new small block for the car and can’t see why I would use anything other than a Holley sniper on it unless something better hits the market in the next few months.

Unless the rules require a carb I'd run EFI these days on any track or autocross car. I don't see any reason to have fuel sloshing around in a carb when you can bolt on a throttle body. Not to mention the auto tuning and data logging that you get.

I had this problem on my first autocross event with the Dart. Out of the gate, there was a hard right turn, and 3 out of 4 of my runs the carb flooded and I was DQed. It was quite embarrassing.

If you are converting to a gen 3 hemi why not get the fuel injection pump in the fuel tank and upgraded fuel lines now to "prepare" for the conversion? Then grab a Holley Sniper as others have mentioned...

I run a 830 quickfuel with electric choke, mechanical secondaries and annular boosters and ran a few autox races and never once had it fail on me. I will be selling it here sometime soon as I am upgrading to efi

I recently went with Holley as I heard Fitech had some customer services issues for a while. Holley is supposed to be better with support. So far I have not needed customer support for my Sniper, so I have no personal experience. Price is not that far apart with Summit running its $101 off $1000 special now. There is a lot you can do with the Sniper besides letting it self tune, but I have no knowledge how Fitech compares there.

Thanks for the replies. I did buy the Tanks Inc tank, as I knew I could use that in the future. I may just go with a fuel injection set up and that good to know about the Holley.
