Pikes Peak / Time Attack Hellcat Challenger - 08/20/18 06:13 PM

This year has been pretty busy with the new program and that pesky day job I have to keep. I'm a bit behind on Moparts updates, but here are some links and pics to get you an idea of what's been happening.

The car performed very well at Pikes, even though race day results don't reflect that performance. We qualified 5th in class out of 21 and 16th overall. There was an issue with a non-production transmission harness that was being used in the car for Engineering. Caught us out on race day and we dropped over a minute stopping on course to restart the car. Complete bummer and a huge letdown, but that's racing. The problem has been resolved and we went on to win the next Time Attack race the following week.

Time Attack Results to date... 2 wins and a 2nd place

We've made a couple more changes to the car for our next race coming up at Road Atlanta. Braking has been an issue at some tracks (not surprising) and we've improved the cooling with some NASCAR type fans that should help out quite a bit. We also have a new calibration and a couple other minor tweaks that should give us a bit more power (like it's not making enough already).

The current issue of Mopar Action has a good breakdown of the build and lots of pics from when the car was assembled this spring. We will have a Pikes Peak story followup in the next issue there as well.

I keep saying it's really scary how stock this car is compared to what we are racing against. Yes, it's still heavy, weighs over 4k lbs and is still running the stock 8HP90 ZF 8 speed automatic. Full dash, stock radio, console, OE glass and the only carbon is the hood and rear deck. Other than safety, you can build the car in your driveway, it's really that type of package.

Any questions on the build, post them up here and I'll check back to answer and share what I can.

I liked the article on the car, pretty neat. Keep up the good work and I hope you and King Richard bring the brick out of hibernation.

Kevin,
Super impressive results!! Thanks for sharing this. I can't wait to check out the videos! I have to guess that in addition to a fearsome beast of a car, you've got a driver with nerves of steel.

Performance aside, that is one of the meanest looking racecars I've ever seen. Absolutely stunning.
