YouTube of my brother's stock '68 Road Runner at track day. - 07/08/17 03:12 PM

I attend a couple track days every year.

This year I was pleased my brother decided to come along - for his first time ever - at the New York Safety Track. I took my Alfa Romeo track car, and he brought his stock '68 RR, drum brakes, and street radials.. a brave soul that man has..

We had a great time, the club organizers loved, loved, loved the Road Runner... they did expect him to be all over the track - and off it too - but he surprised them with his skills, he did great for a total rookie..

It helps when you've driven B-bodies most of your life...

Here is the video - the first 10min half is from inside the car, the second 10min half is me chasing him in my car with the camera mounted on it.

Amazing that old stock suspension Mopar even made it around the track, says every Mustang and Camaro guy born. These cars are so much more car than any of the other junk of the day its not even funny.

Thank you - glad you enjoyed it, that means a lot.

He's my older brother and we (mostly me) used to be super competitive. Now it makes me happy to see him do so well - I'm honestly proud of the ba$#ard.

That was awesome! I'm impressed with your brother's composure too.

If that had been me running ahead of my own brother, I would have rolled the car and stuck it in a tree trying to "win".

smile yeah - what a great word for it: Composure! Yes, he has that.

His best lap time in the '68 RR was within 2 seconds of MY best lap time, the first time I took my Alfa Romeo to this track. I like to think it's at least partially due to all the expert advice I gave him so willingly... and he listened carefully to all of it.

I'm psyched for him though - He's already talking about upgrades for next year: he wants fatter Cooper Cobra tires, thicker front swaybar, and I keep urging him to prioritize front disc brakes and go for even stickier dedicated tires like Dunlop ZII's or Bridgstone RE-71R's.

At this point, I'm 2 years and 5 full track days ahead of him. I've paid close attention and improved my skills. Tweaked the alignment, got fresh tires, and this has combined to cut my lap time nearly 2 seconds every time I've been on track since my first day in 2015. In 3 years I've gone from 2:08 to 1:56, and last week I got two laps at 1:54... So I'm tough competition.! devil
